The redheaded witch sat at one of the tables in the school's darkened library, bent over a book, pen in hand, scribbling across her notebook. Her winter coat hung over the back of her chair, her boots off, leaning against the leg of the desk. Feet covered in thick, white socks, legs by the faded blue jeans, a soft-knit green sweater protecting her from the slight chill in the library. The witch lifted her left hand to tuck a lock of auburn hair behind her ear as her right hand continued to write down the details of an incantation that, if done properly, could create a softball-sized fireball to throw at one's enemy.
Willow did her best to concentrate on protecting herself, trying not to let her mind wander. The past couple months had been rough on her and as much as she tried, it showed at times. The redhead had become a tad reclusive, going out only when she went to the library or she absolutely had to go somewhere. She spoke little during the day. A polite 'good morning' or 'g'night' to Zuko and not much in between.
Her hand went to her neck, and the silver chain that held the rose quartz that she'd requisitioned for Layla. The necklace had stayed behind when Layla had been returned to her world and it felt wrong to just throw it away. There was always the chance that she'd come back. Wasn't there? The redhead's eyes began to slowly fill with tears and a heartbroken grimace crossed her face. Willow dropped the pen, lifting both hands to her eyes, covering them as she wept softly.
