Duo was sitting in the cafe, nursing a hot chocolate to warm up after having been doing a little work on the building to keep it up. He'd needed a little time out and away, as getting used to a roommate who was himself and previously on tense terms wasn't quite exactly what he'd thought it would be. It wasn't bad. It was kinda cool. But, he'd gotten used to being alone again, as much as he hated it.

He sighed to himself. When he wanted to be alone, he wasn't, when he didn't want to be alone, he was. Murphy must have shit on his head when he was born or something. He wasn't quite sure. Then again... knowing what he did about his double's world, maybe his double had it worse?

Yeah... he probably did in a quite a few ways. After all, their fight against OZ had failed. Though, Quatre seemed well off three years later, right? He didn't know anymore.

He just didn't know anymore.

So, now, here he was, sitting by himself in the cafe, wondering just why things were the way they were. He sipped the hot chocolate again.

"Atlas" stepped into the cafe and immediately his eyes fell on his prey. This wasn't going to be a hard endeavor as far as he was concerned.

He flashed a friendly smile, as per what the Atlas personality would have done, towards Duo as he approached. He didn't bother to hide. What was the point? And besides, this was not the type of area to try anything sneaky. It was open, and there was only one point of entrance. (Or two, but the one in the back was not visible from here.) Besides, he didn't need to be subtle.

Still, he kept the Atlas facade up for as long as it took him to approach the table Duo was sitting at. He dipped his head slightly in a form of greeting. "'Ello, boyo."

Duo looked up at the man who came over.

"Hi," he said, giving him a small smile in return. He didn't know Atlas, so really had no reason to go beyond that.

The facade dropped in what seemed like slow motion replay--the Irishman's face slowly spread into a grin that would have his vampiric partner jealous of its sly evilness. At the same time Fontaine gave Duo no chance at reacting to the sudden change in personality.

Fontaine's left hand snapped forward with an inhuman quickness. The limb was covered in ice, somewhat like a horrid frostbite setting in, although it didn't appear to hurt the man it covered. He pointed at Duo with an open palm and a burst of cold air hit the pilot before the ice set in.

Fontaine didn't want to kill his prey just yet--the amount of ice was limited compared to his usual burst. But still the frigid substance completely covered the pilot from head to toe. It was weakest around the head, and given a good shake it would crack and fall off. If not, Fontaine would remove it himself so as to keep the boy alive.

Basically: he turned the boy into a living icicle that was frozen in spot until the ice melted, or Fontaine removed it.

And like slow motion it seemed, that was for sure. Suddenly, everything was cold. Duo gave as much of a struggle as he could, which included breaking off the ice around his head.

"SON OF A BITCH!" he yelled. "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT FOR?!"

Fontaine simply smirked at the boy and shook his head slightly. He lifted a single finger to his mouth and pressed it lightly against his own lips. "Shhh," he whispered softly. "You'll ruin the surprise."

And with that the Irishman took a step closer before raising a small needle into eyesight. "Nighty night, boyo~" he intoned with a lilt as he brought the instrument to Duo's neck.

"No..." He couldn't move. Damn it! What the hell was this guy doing?! "Who sent you? Why are you doing this?"
