Saioh did not care for snow. He had liked it as a child, but that had been before he had been forced to leave home in the middle of winter and suffer on the cold streets. At the moment, he was hurrying back to his room with a book he'd borrowed from the library, moving as quickly as he could without actually running.
And then something made him stop and do a doubletake. He stared a moment, then smiled and walked over to Takion's little oasis.
"I should have known you would come up with something like this," he said.
From his seat on the ground, Takion smiled up at Saioh. It seemed to him that he didn't get to see his boys enough. They both had a tendency to keep to themselves. Boys, especially teen boys, seemed to require less raising than girls.
"It seemed the best way to deal with the chill in the air," Takion stated between sips of his tea.
"Thank you very much," said Saioh. He stepped into the circle of warmth, shedding his cloak and shaking snow off of it. "This is a relief. Snow is truly not my favorite thing. I'm almost not sure it's worth the effort to go out into."
Saioh sipped thoughtfully at the tea, which was delightfully warming.
"Under a certain amount of stress," he said, after giving the matter its due consideration. "My poor butterfly was one of the victims of the robbery hoax. It still hasn't fully recovered from the strain."
Takion made appropriately sympathetic noises over the butterfly's trials. "The poor thing. Perhaps it would like to stretch its wings a bit. We have good butterfly weather here."
"That you do," Saioh agreed. He carefully undid his scarf and freed the butterfly from where it had been safely tucked beneath his collar. It crept out cautiously, testing the air with slender metal feelers, before taking to its wings to flutter joyously amid the greenery. "I may have to bring some of these flowers home with me to keep it happy, if they'll last."
"They will last," Takion promised. "Winter will creep back into this spot, but if the flowers are repotted someplace where they'll stay warm, there should be no problems."
"Then I will definitely rescue a few," said Saioh. He would do a lot to keep his treasured pet happy. "It will liven up the room for all of us... You know by now, I'm sure, that Yamato and his Digimon have moved in with me."
Takion nodded slightly. "I recall hearing something like that. You two really ought to come downstairs and visit more. I only ever hear about your lives through those silly devices."
And then something made him stop and do a doubletake. He stared a moment, then smiled and walked over to Takion's little oasis.
