Bundled up in her gray wool coat and deerskin gloves, Faye was slogging through the snow in the park, on one of her frequent compound-encompassing walks. She had gotten to the point of despairing of ever finding a blind spot in the Keepers' surveillance, but that wasn't going to stop her from trying. Also, she had it in mind to take a good look at the banks of the pond and stream....

Fighting her way through a winter that had come, in her opinion, much to soon, she stumbled across a small clearing to which, alone in all the compound, spring had come, much much to soon. And in the middle of it all was Alternate L. Takion.

Well, she thought, smirking, how fortuitous~. She leaned against a tree, crossing her arms, her smirk widening and amusement showing clearly in her eyes. "Well hey there, Mr. Takion... come here often~?"

As his teatime was interrupted by a familiar voice, Takion glanced up at the bundled figure and smiled. The last time he'd bumped into Faye, he thought he may have slightly traumatized her with his frivolous imaginings. It was good to see that she hadn't been put off by them.

"Often enough, Lady Valentine," the author said politely. He gestured to his picnic blanket. "Would you like to step in out of the cold?"

Faye had been rather alarmed when she first encountered Takion and his strange powers, but quickly got over it when she recognized their usefulness in certain situations.

Such as this one~. She favored him with a wide smile. "Why, how very kind of you, sir~. I would like to step in out of the cold, thank you~." She stepped into the circle of springtime warmth with a sigh of real bliss, shedding her coat as she sat elegantly on the blanket, being careful to keep her snow-soaked boots off of it. "Mmmm, real warmth!" she exulted. "You are so lucky to have your power, Mr. Takion... and I am so glad you're willing to share~!"

"It has its uses on occasion," Takion agreed as he watched Faye maker herself comfortable. Far be it from him to let a woman shiver in the cold while he enjoyed such luxuries. That would simply be bad manners, and Takion had been raised better than that, even if his manners were somewhat antiquated. "Is there anything I can get for you, Lady Valentine?"

Faye lounged with her weight on one hip, her legs folded neatly to one side and one arm propping her up. The red shirt she always wore over her gold outfit slipped off of her shoulders and gathered around her arms, which she ignored, since it usually did that.

She raised her eyebrows at Takion, unsure what he meant. "Get for me? Sorry?"

"Tea, snacks, or anything else that might take your fancy," Takion clarified. Knowing that a roving eye might upset his lover, Takion kept his gaze firmly away from areas on Faye that he shouldn't be watching.

Faye's immediate thought was, Ooooh~, free stuff! She carefully considered his offer again, however. She didn't want to seem greedy; never mind that she was greedy, she was trying to make a good impression. She thought it would probably be rude to turn him down, however. "Oh, thank you!" she replied. "I'd love a cup of coffee, if you'd be so kind. Black, please." She smiled gratefully. Internally, she was smirking. To Faye's practiced eye, it was obvious where Takion was very pointedly not looking. She remembered his appreciative once-over at their first meeting, and generally was pleased and amused. Such attention was almost always to her advantage, in the end.

While Takion preferred tea, coffee was just as easily managed. Dropping his gaze down towards the pages of his writing journal, Takion scribbled a quick poem.

A simple blue mug filled with steaming hot coffee appeared in front of Faye.

"Miraculous~!" exclaimed Faye, beaming as the hot drink materialized. She picked up the mug, warming her hands and inhaling that delicious coffee scent. "Mmmmmm~," she hummed appreciatively, before turning her admiring gaze and smile on Takion. "But really, it's very impressive, what you can do. I'm curious, though... are there any limits to your powers?"

"Of course there are limits," Takion responded, pleased that the coffee was enjoyed. A cup of coffee was a simple matter to imagine. A spot of springtime was more challenging. "I am limited by what I can imagine. Writer's block is a terrible thing as well. Before coming here, I had a case of such that lasted for over a hundred years. And it is easy to lose sight of things and be swept up entirely by the story. Very dangerous, that. The last thing I want is to be destroyed by one of my own creations."

Faye thought over what he said. She really didn't understand how his power worked at all, so problems like writer's block and being swept up by the story were surprising to her, and not entirely comprehensible. Being limited by his imagination, however, was a problem she could understand. She took a careful sip of her coffee as she pondered this. "Mmmm... delicious...!" she murmured, mostly to herself. She'd asked for black coffee, assuming that Takion would provide coffee of good enough quality she wouldn't need to smother the flavor with sugar and cream. She was glad to know her assumptions were correct.

After a second quick sip, she continued with her questions. "So... limited by what you can imagine, that makes sense. I'm guessing you have to be familiar with what you're trying to create, and you can't make something unless you know what it is. You couldn't, for example, create a hyperdrive engine for a spaceship?"

Takion gave a nod. Faye seemed fairly quick on the uptake. "Exactly. I haven't the faintest clue what a 'hyperdrive' is. If, for instance, I decided that it sounded like some sort of sofa, and that was what I pictured in my head as I wrote, well, you would wind up with a new sofa known as a hyperdrive."

Faye smirked at his explanation. "Heh. I don't really know what a hyperdrive is, either~." She took another sip of coffee as she processed this information. After a little bit of thought, she nodded. "What if, hypothetically, there was something you'd never heard of, but someone gave you detailed mechanical drawings of it, or somesuch. Would you be able to imagine it well enough then?"

Takion considered and shrugged. "I've never tried it that way. There's not a great deal of creativity to doing it that way, and creativity and emotion are what make my abilitiy work."

Faye frowned a little. "Hmmmm." How discouraging, she thought.

"I have to admit, Mr. Takion, my questions have not been entirely without a point," she said after a pause. Glancing up at the Keepers, she set her coffee down and shifted to sit closer to the author. She stretched her legs out a little so that her boots remained off of the blanket; of course, showing off her legs was never a bad thing either. Lowering her voice conspiratorially, she continued, "I'm working on a way out of here with a friend of mine. We're on the lookout for like-minded people, especially those with... useful abilities." She paused and raised her eyebrows, waiting to see how he reacted to this.

Takion listened with little surprise. Unfortunately for Faye, Takion had nothing to go back to on his own world, and was quite content with the life he'd put together here. His own plans consisted of winding up on Saetan's world. "Just take care and do nothing rash, Lady Valentine. Although that may be rather like asking a fish not to swim, for it has been my experience that the young are always impatient."
