Despite the doubts Rock had experienced when Belldandy hadn't shown up to face him in the last few days, the blue bomber tried as hard as he could to remain resolute in his decision. He promised that he'd leave his communicator behind, and that he'd wait for her to come to him, and that was exactly what he did for the last few days.

Granted, he was worried that she may have tricked him, but he tried to keep himself from running back to his communicator. He knew that if he even made one message on it, any chance of Belldandy coming for him would've been lost.

So he stayed away.

And after days of wandering the park, Belldandy approached him. However, he couldn't help but feel... angry, at her voice. From the beginning, Belldandy had been an extremely kind person, and he could practically feel Skuld's adoration for her older sister. He never questioned it.

But to find the person Skuld adored so much turn into this... it made him sick to his stomach. It made him wonder how Belldandy could've used that trust to completely toy with Skuld.

Like Juno. Like Sera.

Rock glanced back, glaring at the goddess while keeping his anger in check. "..." And that was when he realized he didn't even know how to address her. Should he greet her? Should he threaten her? He didn't know, but... he didn't want to even talk to her.

He just wanted to stop her.

Belldandy looked at Rock and smirked. "You look angry. Quite a surprise from such a peaceful boy." She said, walking towards him slowly.

Rock's glare deepened. "Where's Skuld." He replied, his tone anxious. There was no deep-seeded anger in his tone, so much as grim determination. He wasn't going to humor her, not when Skuld's life could've been on the line.

Right now, he wasn't dealing with Belldandy. He was dealing with another person who jsut wanted to cause pain and suffering.

And if he had to, he'd fight that person.

Belldandy raised an eyebrow and chuckled. "Did you really think I would just tell you?" She asked, crossing her arms after coming to a stop.

Usually, the optimism and determination that shone from the blue-armored digger was blinding. It was the source of inspiration to his friends and family, and it almost caused others to be drawn to him, just because of the purity that he seemed to emit. Yet, his response almost made it seem like he was being the exact opposite.

"No,"

However, it only lasted for a second. It was then that rock began to turn, facing the goddess. His Buster wasn't summoned, so whether he was actually planning to fight or not could've been left up for speculation.

That speculation flew out the window when he revealed that the Shining Laser had been summoned all along however. And was now currently aimed at the goddess' head. "I didn't!" He spat out.

And then he fired.

He knew full well it wouldn't hit. But that didn't mean it wasn't going to do it's job.

Belldandy ducked down under the attack, but upon not feeling the usual disappoint, she didn't stop moving and shot out her hand to fire a blast at Rock.

If he was planning something, she wouldn't let him carry it out.

There was nothing to plan. His signal was out. All he could do at this point was survive.

Instinctively, Rock cut the laser short and rolled to the side. Despite the armor, his reflexes were surprisingly quick, as was his sharp mind when it came to life-threatening situations. He blamed Roll in part for the latter, but he didn't necessarily think of that as a bad thing.

Once he finished his roll, he landed on one knee, Buster Gun summoned on his other arm, and immediately aimed at Belldandy. "Sera was supposed to be a Goddess!" He yelled out, the cylinder of his buster glowing before it began to fire. "And I beat her!"

"But I am a Goddess and one of the best!" Belldandy declared, kicking off into the air, throwing up a barrier to block the blasts. "Spirits of wind, heed my word, and throw my enemy off their feet!" Belldandy chanted before a strong blast of wind started to blow, strong enough to throw Rock off his feet if he wasn't careful.

The blast of wind was completely unexpected, and there wasn't much Rock would do other than just push against it once it started to blow. However, it ultimately did blow him off his feet, forcing him to fall backward on the ground after a good push back.

Fortunately, thanks to the space his metal backpack created between the ground and his armor, the back of his head didn't strike the ground.

Instead, he raised his feet and let the wind roll his body back some more, causing him to once more land on his feet, with his knees bend and his hands nozzles pressed onto the ground. Anchoring himself against the wind further, he even started his jet skates, the wheels pushing him forward and the wind blew him back, keeping him perfectly in place.

The only problem was that he couldn't attack.

Belldandy smirked. That's all she needed. She held up her hands, directing them at Rock. "Now, go to sleep, little boy." She said and fire several consecutive blasts at him.

That angered him. "Not before you do!" He yelled out, looking up at the blasts without a hint of fear in his eyes. Instead, he let go of the ground, raising his shining laser as fast as he could and firing it through the shots.

Whether it actually worked or not, Rock didn't get to find out anytime soon. In fact, even if it didn't work, the fact that Rock let go of the ground and let the gust of wind carry him probably helped him dodge the blasts.

The blasts dispersed with the energy. Belldandy chuckled. "So, it seems I need stronger blasts." Belldandy said, the wind starting to die down. She held up her hands and fired more blasts, using a bit more energy this time, the ring starting to glow.

The common thing for someone to experience after that kind of statement should've probably been worry, or even fear. In most cases, it may have even been both. However, Rock was simply experiencing anger and determination.

He was angry due to the growing odds stacked against him, but he was determined due to just who exactly it was he was fighting to save.

As the blasts got closer, Rock started his jet skates and blasted along the ground, riding directly underneath the blasts. If he'd timed this right, then the blasts would've tried to arc behind him and follow him, but due to the little room he left for them to arc in, they'd just explode on the ground.

Belldandy smirked. "Then let's be more creative." She said and spread her arms. "Wind spirits, cyclone and whirlwinds, listen to my call, and surround...and deplete." Belldandy chanted, a whirlwind started to form in the area and then started to shrink down around them.

"The air pressure will start to decrease soon, Rock. Tell me, do you still need to breathe like a human?" Belldandy asked.

The unfortunate answer to that question was sure 'yes'.

The first hint Rock got of what Belldandy had done came in his attempt to actually speak. Or, more accurately, his failed attempt. With no air actually getting into his lungs, it made Rock's determination waver, to a point where panic began to creep up.

Not that he let it be shown, but at the same time, it was hard to actually hide it.

He wanted to be strong, for Skuld, for John, for all his friends here, for his family back home. But what if he couldn't? What if he died, right here? He knew from the start that there wasn't really anything he could do, and yet he went anyway. He knew it, but he ignored it. He knew he could die, but he ignored it for the sake of one of his closest friends.

And yet, he still wasn't regretting having done that.

Just like he knew he stood no chance against Belldandy, he also knew that he'd die for his friends without a second thought. So with his last breath (possibly literally), Rock glanced up at this person who used to be Belldandy, who used to be Skuld's loving and caring sister.

And he fired. Buster Gun and Shining Laser, he fired. He fired until he couldn't fire anymore.

But he fired.
