Heero was running when he saw the short-haired Duo in the street, looking...well...really really confused and scared, something Heero rarely saw on Duo, especially this particular Duo. He nearly went into a wall watching him instead of where he was going; he decided to find out what was wrong then, walking over.

That.. That voice.. that was.. "Heero?" He asked, almost in disbelief. He turned his head to look at the other guy, curious at first, but then shocked to see the friend he thought had been executed more then three months prior.

He couldn't help but smile in greeting to his friend, but hot damn he was speechless. He approached the other pilot, with a slight limp. He was also covered in a bit of concrete dust and dirt, but regardless.

"Way to be a sight for sore eyes."

"Am I?" asked Heero, trying to remember when last they had talked. A little while, he guessed. Duo had his own projects, and Heero had still been recovering from his unpleasant return to the compound. "You okay, Duo?"

Heero blinked at him. He knew what had happened in Duo's universe...why did he suddenly not remember? The coms had been a bit weird lately but he hadn't been paying close attention these past few days. Was something going on, or had something been done specifically to him? He took the other pilot's arm. "Calm down," he said as calmly as he could. "I'm not dead. The execution was a lie." Not that he was there but one freak-out at a time. "This place is called Econtra. Quatre is here, too."

Duo looked at Heero's arm, releasing his grip on his inch long hair and quivering with mixed feelings. Execution.. figures.. but.. wait.. so many questions. He stammered, trying to force a question, one, no.. another.. Okay maybe not.

"Econtra.." he said.. Feeling no familiarity with the word, or the place. And.. "Quatre? I.." he looked away, breathing in deeply. "Can you.. I need to see him."

"You live here? Why?" Duo asked, ready to follow. Boy hadn't even seen the edge of this place yet. "I remember flying back.. Heading to the maguanak base at Mecca after spending the summer on Howard's ship.."

Whether it was the Quatre they were looking for or not, the younger blond stepped out of the building as they walked up to it. He paused, immediately knowing something was different. He hadn't been sure at first, because it was a feeling he wasn't used to them from that Duo, but, seeing him now with Heero, he knew it was for sure. He stopped, watching them approach.

"We were brought here against our will to fight a war for someone else," Heero explained. That was quick and to the point. "This is a different reality, with people from different worlds brought here. But don't worry about that right now. All you have to know now is that you're a prisoner, and if you try to go over that wall--" he made a motion towards the Obex. "--they will shoot to kill."

He frowned, searching his memory. He hadn't been told such specifics and that particular summer wasn't familiar. He looked up as the younger Quatre came out. "Quatre," he said. "Duo's lost his memory."

"...Prisoner.. Huh.. Figures.." Duo said as he raked a hand still through his hair, fussing about it. Then the shoot to kill line. He flinched. He still limped, considering Tony's earlier onslaught hurt both his shoulder and jolted his knee just a bit. "... Got it.." Didn't have to tell him twice.

There was alot of stuff Duo never mentioned. All he remembered was going to earth and being stranded there, all because of OZ. Then, he saw Quatre. Guy he hadn't seen for months. Then- Memory.. Wait.. "What do you mean, Lost my memory? I didn't lose anything.."

Just like the other guy said.

Quatre looked between them and then nodded. "I see," he said quietly. He walked over to Duo, taking the other's hand in his. He noticed the limp, felt the pain of some slightly newer injuries. What had he been doing?

"Duo... you've been here a while... almost a year," he said quietly. "Come on... we can fill you in a bit better upstairs." He wanted to get Duo to sit down for a bit. He also felt the other Quatre could answer some of the questions about Duo's own world that he might have forgotten better than they could, but that would have to wait until they could explain the concept of alternate versions of themselves.

Did he really want to know? Duo turned his eyes away and sighed. "I don't know man.. It's.. After that guy, not sure I want to know.." The young pilot replied. "Said I did some bad things.. Attacked me.." Even evident by the slight scraps on his knuckles, even his cheek from being thrown around. Still stung.

"We've all had a rough time of things here," Quatre said. "It's made us all question ourselves at times." He led the two inside. "We'll explain what we can..." He looked at Heero in understanding. There were clearly things pre-Econtra that Duo didn't remember, either. He wasn't sure how to figure that out.

Heero shrugged as he followed Quatre, guiding Duo. "Did some bad things? I don't think so," said Heero. He hadn't asked questions, but he had heard some stuff on the grapevine and over the coms, and he didn't consider anything Duo had been doing to be wrong. "There are people who take offense pretty easily here."
