For once, Yusuke was finally feeling like the world was not out to utterly destroy him. Bad things were happening to everyone it seemed---everyone, that is, but him. For the first time since coming to Econtra he could say that he was both vaguely relieved and maybe even glad.

Then, however, he saw his double stalking as he did, and he could not help but know that was something was horribly wrong. And, as it were, something had most likely been taken---and or destroyed---from him as well.

There were only a few things that could have possibly shaken Yusuke from his trance-like state of such strong mixed negative emotions, even a little bit.

Seeing the other version of him there was one of those things - granted, it was only so much that he paused in his walking, simply out of the novelty of the concept. After all, he knew that the other him was in the compound and had been for around over a month now, but he hadn't actually met him face to face yet.

Yusuke wondered vaguely if this chance encounter with his other self was not fate's next sick joke. It probably was, he figured, since he had gone so long with a threat to his sanity---a sanity that was so threatened its existence almost seemed like miracle. Yet it was fragile, almost a sickly parody of the cool head of his dear friends.

"Double," he greeted carefully. Though he could not help but wonder if he was the one deserving the title "double". Had not the other he been there before him?

"O-Other me..." Yusuke responded quietly, his entire body quivering, his eyes hidden behind his hair. He couldn't bring himself to say anything more than an acknowledgement of the greeting, mostly because (more or less subconsciously) he was desperately trying to stay on his feet, to not collapse in his grief.

The other him would certainly understand how much what had happened hurt him, though. How could he not sympathize?

Yusuke bristled, only slightly, but he did. He knew that expression well enough---something was horribly wrong, it was only a matter of time before something would be inflaming his poor nerves. And because this other was essentually him, surely he would end up just as affected.

"Something's wrong," he said quietly, plainly.

He nodded, ever-so-slightly, as much as he could manage. And then, after a minute of gathering enough mental strength, he managed to say something more without collapsing - because this was the other him, of course he could be open with him and tell him what was wrong, he was practically himself, right?

"...They're gone..."

It was something he definitely did not want to hear. Gone....gone...it could have meant so much, implied so much---the most deep-seated fears could have been realised.

But he did not panic completely. Yet. Gathering himself, he began, "They? Who's they? They didn't forget...?"

He shook his head furiously at the word 'forget'. They hadn't forgotten him, they couldn't have forgotten him, that was an irrelevant issue at the moment, especially given the circumstances. Yes, that fear was there, but...

...But if that were the case, their memories could be recovered (hopefully - Fubuki's had been, after all, so it wasn't impossible) - but not their lives.

"Taken, seemed to be destroyed... the Clear monsters..."

So it was a greater atrocity---the duellist's most sacred item trampled on and destroyed. Yusuke reeled, found his world becoming more and more hazy as he fought to comprehend the words his other had spoken. He did understand, however, and, trembling, he looked upon his mirror image with a mixed look of horror and sympathy.

"They're gone? Everyone..." he began quietly, harshly, "Is Honest gone, too? Can't you feel them...?"

From what he could gather with his failing facilities, both versions of his vigilant aegis were absent.

He shook his head. "Honest is still..." He fished out his other cards, the fairy deck that he had fought with before, which he had tried to integrate into his Clear deck but without real success in the matter, and pulled out Honest's card. Of course the angel still wouldn't come out - he rarely did, after all, even at times such as this. But Honest was still there.

"Honest is still... but the rest..."

The boys eyes flew immediately to the card. He was relieved, but only a bit. The rest of his deck had been destroyed, and even if they were not the same as Honest, they were still his loyal companions....

"...Gone. As you said. I..."

He wondered if he might not be able to sense them, but try as he might he could not calm his fevered nerves enough to concentrate enough on any one point.

"Where are they? I can't sense them...Can't..."

"I... I don't know..." Yusuke responded, trying his hardest to continue responding in at least coherant phrases even if they weren't always full sentences. "I've tried... can't hear them anywhere... they might be..."

If he had been thinking clearer, perhaps he would have considered the possibility that they were just being quiet for their own protection, or because they felt like it - there was at least one of them who would be enthusiastic enough to decide something like that. But he was assuming the worst, much as it hurt him to do so.

Luckily, Yusuke, like his other, was not exactly capable of complete sentences himself. He could understand the fragments well enough since that was practically how his mind was working.

"Ah..." He trailed off, struck for a moment. He wondered about something then, and it might not have been a long-shot. And so he ventured, "Do you think...do you think that if they were not danger, maybe, they would not cry out? Or if destroyed have made a really, really strong final cry? Nothing...may be a good sign."

In his state of not thinking as clearly as he could have been, it took Yusuke a moment to comprehend exactly what the other him had said. After a moment, he managed to respond shakily, uncertainly, "I... I don't know... you might be right... a-and they can be loud when they want to... but what if..."
