The fall chill was deep enough to shred most of the fog her prolonged unconsciousness had wrapped around her thoughts by the time Rose arrived at the cafe, for all that it was not so long a walk. She was grateful for the return to alertness; it seemed litte enough had changed, the date on her communicator standing as the clearest indication of the passage of time. Certainly, the sky overhead still seemed ominously full of hovering energy-creatures, and the air of tension was still all but palpable.
She ducked inside the shop's front door, rubbing her hands briskly together to warm them. She was beginning to regret not having requisitioned such conveniences as gloves and a proper, solid winter coat while the system to do so was still in place. Not that the latter, at least, was necessary yet, but it would be in time, and there was no certainty that matters would improve before then.
Casting that useless like of thought away with a physical shake of her head, she began rummaging about, the simple preparations for coffee almost habit even in a strange location. The beverage would have twofold benefit, being both warm and capable of jolting those few still-fogged synapses back to full function. Mostly, thought, it would be warm.
