Fayt's eyes widened slightly at the sight of the injured Quatre, and there was no mistaking the look of utter concern on his face. Oh, Apris. "What in the world happened?" he asked, coming inside to look his friend over, the question about how he was immediately forgotten.

Fayt wanted to protest, but decided against it. If Quatre didn't want to talk about it, then he wouldn't pry. But he was definitely going to keep an eye out for him... and perhaps, maybe later he'll try asking again.

"I've been through worse," the blue-haired boy answered with a sigh. "I've had a lot of things to do since the alliance was organized." He managed a small smile. "I almost got elected as coordinator, but Jing won in the end. And I don't mind; I'm better off in weapons development, honestly. Speaking of the meeting, is there anything in particular you'd like to hear about? Other than what Robin has relayed to you, I mean."

"I trust Jing as well, and that he'll do a better job than I could." Fayt smiled. "It has been a while, actually, that I've been up in the leader's post. And that was only because there was no one else who wanted to lead. For the last three years I've lived quite the secluded life; you know, a researcher's lifestyle, it's mostly books and documents and sleepless nights."

He paused to take out his PDA. "Give me a second, I'll dig up my notes." He pressed a few buttons. "Ah, here," he said as he handed it over to Quatre. "I'm a lousy note-taker, so it's not in good form," he finished good-naturedly, chuckling.

Fayt nodded. "I have, sort of. It's just that it's in the format used in Aquaria, not that of Earth's. Mostly blueprints, and I only had one panelist for my defense," he said, smiling a little. "I've been researching on runological weapons and runic technology."

He listened, then nodded again. "I see. I haven't met your younger double, but I've heard about him. Hang on, let me update this." A few taps on the PDA, and the new information was stored. He looked up at Quatre not just for that reason, though. He frowned a little. "What about Sylvanas?"

"Something like what had been done to my DNA, but to a lesser extent," Fayt answered. He paused for a moment to think about how to explain it. "You see, runology... it involves drawing something equivalent to magical forces from symbols called runes. Different kinds of runes yield different kinds of abilities. There are runes for healing and defense, elemental-based runes, and so on. The closer the runes are to the caster, the stronger the abilities become. You can use a rune that's carved to a wall, or written on a spellbook, but it's not as strong compared to using a rune that's tattooed on your body, or, well, engraved on your DNA." He paused again, looking at Quatre to see if he understood, even just a little. "My research focused on ways to use runology and technology at the same time ( ... )

"The Indigeo, I heard, is a living creature." Although Fayt initially had the same thoughts about the Indigeo before he'd been told about that. He then nodded. "Yeah. Albel and Sheifa can use runology because they have the runes tattooed on them, but they're not as powerful with it as Maria and I. To us, it's almost natural. And... well, uncontrollable in most occasions."

He had to smile. "Thank you for your vote of confidence. I really appreciate it." That soon turned into a frown, however, when Quatre mentioned about Sylvanas having a great deal of 'darkness' around her. He was quiet for a moment. "It's not that I don't believe you, Quatre, because I trust you. But I just want to ask... this 'darkness', what does mean, exactly? Is it necessarily evil?"

"That would be possible," Fayt said in agreement to the idea of the Indigeo being enhanced by magic and technology. It would be like... arming Crosell with the Thunder Arrow. Sort of.

He then shook his head. "Unfortunately not." He looked at Quatre curiously. "Could you help me with that?"

And somehow he understood what the blonde meant about Sylvanas. He knew certain people who were like that. "I suppose so. Still, it wouldn't hurt to be careful. We'll just have to look after each other. We're friends, and we're a team, anyway."
