[Thread] Oh, the irony.

Oct 30, 2008 17:48

Characters: Luke Skywalker (AU) and Ahsoka Tano (OU).
Where: By the pond.
When: Sometime after this conversation.
Summary: Ahsoka teaches Luke something about the Force. A Jedi-to-be teaching a Sith-to-be something? Ironic.
Warnings: None yet, but we'll never know. These two had a shaky start, but it looks like they're getting along now~

Perhaps this was the start of a beautiful friendship? )

It hadn't been hard for Ahsoka to locate Luke. She'd merely reached out into the Force and followed the feel of his presence until she'd come upon him. The fact that he was distressed helped, but if it hadn't been for that, she'd have been able to single him out amongst those who were obvious Force-sensitives, being that his signature was the only one that wasn't familiar to her in some way in this compound. Taking that into consideration, he stood out in contrasts to herself, the senator, and Alema. And, she would've approached him immediately, but after laying eyes upon him, she couldn't help but stop and stare.

The resemblance between the boy before her and the man who had trained her was amazing. He really was Anakin Skywalker's son, wasn't he? They had the same hair, the same eyes and nearly the same facial structure.

Realizing that she was staring, Ahsoka snapped herself out of her reprieve and moved forward, closer, clearing her throat to make her presence known.

"Hey there..."

Luke was startled, and turned abruptly. His hand reflexively went to his blaster, but he relaxed as he realized who it was. They hadn't met in person yet, but there was no mistaking it; she had a lightsaber. "Ahsoka," he said quietly, his arms dropping to his sides. "You came."

Despite her knowledge of his alignment and how upset she'd been with the tales that had been passed on to her about what would become of her master, of the older boy's father, she found herself smiling at the greeting. It wasn't really for the greeting itself, but for not having someone gape and stare or recoil at seeing that she was less than human. This, this is what she missed most about home--being looked at like she was the same as everybody else. And for that, she smiled at Luke, tempted to say thank you for that, but not tempted enough to actually voice it.

"Of course I did," she said, moving closer and folding her arms over her chest. "Why wouldn't I? I promised I would and a promise is a promise."

"Sorry. I just... don't have a lot of faith in promises made by Jedi," Luke said, shrugging in an attempt to make it look like it was no big deal. But it was. Obi-Wan Kenobi's 'betrayal' alone was more than a good example.

At that, Ahsoka frowned somewhat. She felt a bit guilty for think what she did and what she was about to say to the older boy, but it was what she firmly believed at the moment.

"Neither do I," she admitted. "Not anymore. Not really."

Luke said nothing. He had the sneaking suspicion that Ahsoka was only saying that to make him feel better. After all, this was the Jedi who called him a liar. He didn't trust her that much yet.

"Let's start," he said, switching the topic. It was going to be depressing if they continued on that path, anyway.

Interestingly enough, Ahsoka did mean what she said. There were so many things that had been revealed to her that contradicted all that she had learned, so much information that had been withheld from her, so many things that her master, this boy's father, had done and yet instructed her not to do...

"You look like him," she said suddenly, eyeing Luke. "Like your dad. You've got the same eyes--hair color, too. If I didn't know you were his son, I'd say you could easily pass for his twin." The Togruta smiled again, shrugging and nodding in agreement with his statement. "Yeah, let's."

Ahsoka sat down on the ground, legs crossed and gestured for him to sit across from her.

Luke turned to look at her in surprise. "Really?" From surprised, his expression turned sad and somewhat distant. He was quiet for a while, following Ahsoka and sitting down across her with his legs crossed as well. He looked like he was about to say something, just hesitating, and when he finally managed to get it out, he turned away; the ground suddenly very interesting to look at. "I... I really don't remember his face. He's been in that armor for so long..."

Ahsoka watched him, confused as to why he'd be saddened by something she'd said in a praising manner, biting her lip and wondering just what she'd said wrong. He gave her an answer without her asking, but it wasn't one she entirely understood.

"Armor?" What armor? Her master didn't wear armor and the only thing her mind could bring fourth as a possibility was a rather ridiculous image of Anakin wearing the white armor of a Clone Trooper.

"You do look a lot like him, though," she said again. "I know you may not believe me, because I'm a Jedi Padawan, but telling someone that they look like my master isn't something I'd lie about. And if it helps," she said, smiling a bit and trying to lighten the mood with a joke, "I'm not knighted, so I'm not really a Jedi."

Luke shuddered at the memory. He hesitated for a moment, but found it comforting, somehow, to talk about it. "After he fought Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar..." He shook his head, trying his hardest to relay the story without the memory actually coming alive in his mind. "...he was badly injured. He lost his arm and his body got burned, and... well, after that he had to wear some sort of, uh, life-support suit. It's black and it's big and it's..." He rubbed the back of his head, managing a small smile. "It looks ridiculous, honestly."

He looked at her with interest when she mentioned that she wasn't knighted and therefore wasn't technically a Jedi, but said nothing to that. The smile remained on his face, however, much longer than he intended.

Ahsoka kept her expression calm as he told her this, only her blue eyes betraying how this news affected her. As much as she was disappointed in the things her master would do in the future, she didn't hate him. No, she could never hate him. The bond between a master and padawan was a unique one that wasn't romantic, sibling-like, or parental in nature, but rather something different that had a unique category all of it's own. Growing up at the temple, she'd been grouped together first by age, then by midichlorian count, by lightsaber form, and so on. It wasn't until she was assigned to Anakin that she had someone focusing on her and her alone, being just her teacher and not a teacher to her and twenty others ( ... )

When Ahsoka spoke of a Huttling throwing up on Anakin, keeping a straight face had become impossible for Luke. He couldn't help but chuckle, especially since he was actually imagining it. "That would have been something to see," he said.

His expression was then replaced by surprise when Ahsoka floated away her makeshift padawan braid. But that was her mark! Did that mean-

"What did you do that for?" he asked, confused at the gesture.

To say that she'd done that as just a way to ease Luke's mind would be lying. Ever since arriving here and learning of the fall of the Jedi Order she was a part of, the corruption and the conflicts, the futile war she'd participated in, her master's hypocrisy...she hadn't felt entire comfortable calling herself a Jedi or even a padawan. She frowned and looked down some, feeling conflicted and horrible for feeling that way. Being a Jedi was something she should be proud of and being trained by the Hero Without Fear, but the Chosen One was the sort of honor that words didn't have the ability to express. Yet, with everything...

She looked up at him and shrugged. "Because I don't really feel like a Jedi anymore. Your father's my master. Maybe...maybe I'm not supposed to be."

"You believe in him that much, huh..." Luke had never seen such loyalty from anyone, and from a Jedi, no less. Well... former Jedi? He wasn't sure what to call Ahsoka now. But that devotion and dedication was surprising. Not even the soldiers of the Imperial Remnant had that. He didn't even have it; even though he worked for the Empire and believed in their ideals, his heart wasn't with their order in everything. And yet here was this young woman, uncertain of what her future might bring her yet still believing firmly in something, in someone.

He was impressed, to say the least.

Ahsoka nodded. "Yeah, I do. He's the Chosen One, destined to restore the balance to the Force. I'm not entirely sure what that prophecy means, but I know that it's why he was trained. Did you know, he skipped being an initiate? He was ten when he started his training and went straight to being a padawan. I'm not even fifteen yet, and I'm considered young for a padawan! Your dad's amazing, Luke."

She beamed, her admiration and loyalty for Anakin Skywalker evident in that gesture alone. "To be selected to be trained by the Chosen One, the Hero Without Fear...it's a great honor. I believe things happen for a reason. I'm meant to be trained by him and...well, whatever direction he goes in, I'll follow. Because he's my master."

"Yes. Yes, he is," Luke said, a little distantly, nodding. He'd always admired his father, too, even if they didn't spend a lot of time together. He then frowned, looking at Ahsoka. "Whatever direction he goes in?" He hesitated for a moment. "So if he becomes a Sith, you'll follow him down that path? Even when you know that's against everything you've ever been taught as a Jedi?"
