Preston gazed up at the school building with little interest. If one thing all of multiple societies had in common, it had to be the blandness that most school related buildings all seemed to share. He briefly wondered if the inside were as like "home" as the outside, but he doubted it considering the rest of the place. Everything was so... offensive. Sense-offensive.

He glanced sideways at the sound of the voice. There was an imperceptible sigh from the Cleric and then he gave a curt nod. "Looking at my new surroundings," he said. If she didn't get the fact that he wasn't the Warden from that, then she was just out of luck.

((Technically you're the third. Second to say it out loud though.))

Preston nodded once at her apology. "A tour could be useful. This compound is much smaller than Libria, but the building design and placement is very different."

For now, Preston had been very good at ignoring the fact that everyone here was most definitely throwing his "sense-offense sense" to tingling on a most bizarre vibe.

Preston glanced in the indicated directions as she explained. Then his attention returned back to her. He nodded once curtly. "Yes, simple enough."

He wasn't sure what he had expected, but that would certainly suffice for him. The simplest lesson was easiest to learn, and besides that his memory was more than sufficient to commit her words to memory associated with the easy directions and area names.

"Thank you," he replied stoicly.

"Don't call me that," he intoned a tad bit quickly. He paused before continuing. "Please. Miss Urd." He gave the barest of nods. "My name is John Preston. First Class Grammaton Cleric."

John hesitated. About the only four people in his entire life that called him by his first name were his children, his deceased wife, and occasionally his former partner Partridge. His parents had probably called him that too, but that was some time ago. He had no idea what happened to them and he wasn't concerned with the matter either. Compromise. "Preston, and I'll drop the title."

Preston shook his head at this. "Grammaton Clerics are not religious in any manner. We're an advanced class of peace officers, if you will. We are trained from birth to fulfill our roles of 'protect and serve'. We're not police--we're better--are training is rigorous, more advanced, and specific. We're above the average police officer; we give them their commands."

He didn't frown at the friendly chiding, but it practically hung in the air anyway. He was definitely not one used to being teased on any sort of basis ( ... )

"That's one way to look at it," he said with a short nod. It was possibly the reason why Clerics were named such a thing, it was also possible it just came about because of the nature in which they studied, or because they became an almost supernatural fable to the common people due to their particular skills. Maybe it was some combination of all three reasons. Who and why Clerics were named what they were wasn't entirely a big concern of John Preston. He just was ( ... )

There was a moment of utter silence as Preston stared straight into Urd. When he spoke it was formal, terse, and to the point. It was also dead serious. "All of them."
