Characters: OU Tenjoin Fubuki, AU Otogi Ryuuji, OU Kaylee Frye When: After this post Where: Paj-Pente Summary: Kaylee comes over to fix the broken washing machine Warnings: Too much information?
Otogi had stretched out on the couch, rubbing his wrists a little in annoyance. The burns underneath his wristbands didn't hurt too much, but thinking about that iron and steel was an annoyance of a different kind.
"Not that it wasn't fun," he said, looking over at Fubuki with a grin. And indeed, it had been. Next time, they'd have to get a washing machine without so many parts that he couldn't touch, much less fix.
No ravens, perhaps, but there was indeed a rapping at the door, a quick staccato beat that somehow managed to convey cheer without having any tone to do so in. Even several months in, Kaylee still had the capacity to get tripped up over which address was in which building, though no longer for any significant period of time.
Otogi looked up curiously to see who it was. It wasn't anyone he recognized, but that was hardly unusual. Even he couldn't know everyone. He remained stretched out, sipping at a drink he'd quite literally just made for himself.
"Yep," Kaylee replied brightly, flashing an inordinately cheerful grin. Her fingers tapped against her tool belt in illustration; she'd come prepared, or as much as could be without knowing if there was anything that needed replaced. "Name's Kaylee, by the way. It's nice to meetcha."
"Nice to meet you, too!" said Fubuki. "I'm Fubuki, and that's Otogi. Come on in!" He slung an arm over her shoulders and began guiding her inside the room.
Otogi waved at her. "Thanks for the hand. Normally I fix most of the things around here, but this one's a bit out of my leagues." It was, after all, a little hard to fix what could burn you if you touched it.
"Ain't no trouble," Kaylee replied cheerily, as she was guided inside the apartment. "Whatcha try already, though? Ain't much use in coverin' ground that's already been covered, right?" Even months in, the idea of mystical ability, and the attendant weaknesses thereof, was alien enough to her that it failed to even spring to mind.
"Don't look at me. I don't know anything about fixing machines," said Fubuki. "I just kicked it a couple of times. That always worked on the radiators back home."
"Usually a good first test," Kaylee agreed amiably. "'Specially if somethin' just ain't sittin' quite right." She glanced curiously at Otogi, head tilted at a faintly quizzical angle. "Oh? That's too bad, bet lotsa stuff 'round here's made of it, too."
"We do our best to avoid it," said Fubuki. "Usually if one of us can't do something, the other one can, but like I said, fixing washing machines is out of my league."
"Not that it wasn't fun," he said, looking over at Fubuki with a grin. And indeed, it had been. Next time, they'd have to get a washing machine without so many parts that he couldn't touch, much less fix.
