Long legs dangling over the railing of the balcony, the Doctor waited for Rose, lip caught between his teeth. His long, white fingers clutched the oak as if they might ground him further to the Earth below his feet, that poisoned, dying Earth. He regarded the stone floor with traces of bitterness lurking up into his chest. Frustration momentarily filled him, and for lack of anything constructive to do, he swung himself off of the railing and back into the balcony. Hands shoved deep down into his coat pockets, and the Doctor paced the wooden floor, looking for something clever to say in the wood-grain.
