Characters: AU Duo Maxwell, open Where: When:Third apartment building roof. Summary: Duo is working on a little project to keep himself busy. Warnings: TBA
The Vampire Slayer made her way up the stairs to the roof, looking over and seeing Duo sitting on the couch. Walking over to the couch, she touched his knee with the toe of her boot several times. "Don't fall asleeeep. You'll get buuuuuurnt," Mel teased.
It was kinda awkward after what happened at the ball Belldandy had thrown, but Mel wasn't sure if Duo knew. Mel knew, and that was enough for her. So, maybe she was just the akward one.
Duo turned his head to her, tilting his head to the side to glance at her. "I lived in a desert for a year.. I don't burn." He said this, eyes closed, and lips curled into a smirk. He glanced at her, a brow knit in mild annoyance regarding the last time he'd seen her out and about. Kissing Tony? Who knew.. She musta done it as a joke to him but.. Hell..
Why did he even care? They weren't a couple anymore..
"Why the desert?" Mel asked, noticing the annoyance.
She chewed at the inside of her lip, squinting at him a little from the brightness of the early afternoon sun. She really needed to req' some sunglasses or something. The sunlight was great and all, but damn, reflecting off a light surface made her look like she ate something she didn't care for.
"If not the desert then I'd probably been shot on sight." Duo replied casually, picking up the foam piece he had cut out and started scraping off a little more to make it more streamlined. "You wanna catch lunch today or is this one of those rare opportunities to see you and I'd better make the best of it?"
"Yeah, I can catch lunch," Mel nodded, crossing her arms over her stomach and watching him work on the model. "So...whatcha doin'?" Melaka asked, arching an eyebrow as she watched his hands with the knife.
Melaka leaned forward, looking down at it. "Aww. Cute," Mel said with a smile. He was clearly proud of it. "Anythin' in partic make you wanna do that?" Melaka asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Cute like your scythe." Duo replied snyly, because apparently anything he did was 'cute.' "hang it from the ceiling, probably. It may not look like much but It's home. And even if I do go back to my world, it's not like I ever get to go back. Go figure." The boy set it back down to the table.
"So.. nothin in partic. Just a project.. better then layin in bed all the time.. hear bed sores hurt like a bitch."
"Woulda figured you'd head out and play that basketball game you like," Mel replied, walking over to the far side of the couch, sitting down and resting the heel of her boot to rest on the edge of the coffee table.
"Last time I did that a guy ended up stumbling over after getting shot when he got took from his world. It's boring to play solo anyway. Haven't seen the guys for a while either." Duo replied. He cast a glance to her and smirked,
"You okay? You seem awful.. what was that word you used.. Aloof?" he paused, "you know, like I was a month ago?"
"I'm always aloof," Mel lied, breathing a chuckle. "I'm a girl, remember? We're supposed to be mysterious. 'Least that's what I think girls're supposed to do."
"Actually, in our culture they're supposed to pretend to be stupid, make an emphasis on beauty and make their man look good. But.. To hell with stereotype.." Duo joked, smirking. "Aloof is what guys are supposed to be. You're stealin my thunder."
"Yeah okay." Duo replied, shrugging, her sudden change to a quirky attitude seemed just a little too forced for his taste. "What do you feel like for lunch?"
"How bout that chili left in the fridge? It's still good." Made a few days back, and it was pretty damn good too. He picked up his things and tossing them into a little cardboard box. "C'mon."
It was kinda awkward after what happened at the ball Belldandy had thrown, but Mel wasn't sure if Duo knew. Mel knew, and that was enough for her. So, maybe she was just the akward one.
