Ahsoka, while glad to have quarters that weren't shared with other hopeful soon-to-be Padawans or Clone Troopers who smelled like they hadn't bathed in weeks, she was a little tired of staying in it. Part of the excitement of leaving the Jedi Temple to fight in the war and finally being assigned to a master for training was getting out into the world and being able to see it. Being out and about, adventuring and enjoying the out doors--not sitting within the walls of some building as she'd done for the past fourteen years of her young life.

She sat now, dressed in her usual Jedi regalia, cross-legged on a rock with her hands resting lightly on her knees. Her eyes were closed as she concentrated, deep in one of the meditative forms that Master Yoda had taught her and the other Initiates in her age group before she'd left Coruscant to be with Sky Guy. Before here.

Meditation helped her forget all that, helped her relax. And hopefully, she'd be able to do just that instead of getting questions asking just what she was or if her ( ... )

She'd finished the back wall, deciding on skirting around the graveyard and doing the other line of buildings on her way back to Sor-Epta. The Vampire Slayer decided to scope out the park, figuring it would be the fastest, but also the most dangerous, what with the open spaces and all. Anything could pop down and attack her, most importantly her twin.

A small growl curled its way up Melaka's throat as she stepped onto the grass, boots not making a sound. Harth enjoyed making her life miserable and he wasn't shy about informing her of it. She saw the treeline and the hammock Duo had hung there and she grunted softly, stopping herself from abandoning her post and going to relax.

While Melaka was good at not making a sound, she was doing nothing to mask her presence within the Force and Ahsoka felt her nearing before the slayer came within the young Togruta's view. She wasn't yet skilled enough to be able to tell the species of the person just by the aura of their Force signature, but assumed it was a human. The compound was full of them, after all.

She pulled out of her meditative state and rose to stand on top of the rock, peering out curiously at the person she could now see approaching, but didn't say anything.

Fray saw movement out of the corner of her eye and her hand moved to the scythe, slipping it from its sheath and tightening her grip on the handle. She moved between the trees, seeing the shape on top of the rock up ahead and to the left. It was smaller than Harth, and she didn't get the willies, so she knew for sure that it wasn't her twin.

For all she knew, this was some new person and she'd scared the life outta them with the scythe drawn. But she didn't put it away, 'least not yet.

In a place like this compound, Ahsoka stood out like a sore thumb. Humans seemed to be the dominant species and those who weren't human, were much smaller than her and seemed to possess few human-like qualities. She, however, stood at a height that while at the moment made her shorter than most, would make her far taller when she rose to maturity. Her orange-red skin, stripped lekku and horns, and the white patterns on her face made her look--as one resident had put it--merely like a human in costume. She wasn't in costume, however, this was who she was. A full-blooded Togruta and damn proud of it.

She stepped off the rock and in a flash of Force-enhanced speed, rushed over to were the other girl was. Ahsoka came to a stop a foot or so away. Her blue, alien eyes went to the scythe, then to the girl.

"Plan on using that against someone?" She said in Basic, as opposed to her native tongue of Togruti.

Fray's grip tightened on the scythe and it rose a little when the young woman seemed to appear before her. "Jesu, if you're not careful, it mighta been you," Mel said with a half-chuckle, looking at her. "Jumpin' at people ain't rocketship. 'Specially if those people have pointy weaps in their hands."

"How'd you do that? You go invis or got some toy speedy-jumpy-appeary powers?" Mel asked, looking her over. Couldn't have been more than fourteen or fifteen. Around the same age we were when Harth-- Mel cut that thought off right there before it took her down a track of badness.

"Rockethip?" Ahsoka echoed, tilting her head slighting in confusion. If she remembered correctly from her studies, that was a crude term for an early form of ship that was barely capable of interstellar flight. The people here were so weird, but she wasn't about to be so rude as to suggest as much. She knew better--even if she had a sneaking suspicion her master would have actually voiced that thought, but she wasn't Anakin.

She shook her head, "Nope. I'm a Jedi Padawan. I can move fast using the Force to give what I can do naturally a little...boost, if you will."

Reaching down, she unhooked her lightsaber hilt from her belt and held it up. With her other hand, she gestured at the scythe. "No offense, but if I had any bad intentions, I don't think that would have stopped me." Pressing her thumb to the button on the side, she activated the green blade. "Which I don't. Not exactly a Sith here."

Melaka's eyes widened at the appearance of the glowing green blade. "Lemme guess, can cut through just about anythin'?" Mel asked with a smile. Reminded her of some of the equipment the Laws used in Haddyn.

"Force, huh? Rocketship," Mel said with a grin. "So you can run fast, that's handy. Anything else?" Mel asked, twirling the scythe once before returning it to its holster on her back.

"Pretty much," the Togruta said with a smile of her own.

"Yeah. The Force is an invisible essence that exists in all things, living or non-living. Those of us who are born with a high enough midi-chlorian count are able to utilize the Force and use it to manipulate the world around them." She didn't know how much of that made sense, being that she was still a learner and wasn't near as good at explaining such things as say, Master Kenobi or Master Yoda.

"With the aid of the Force, I can run faster, jump higher, sense things like changes in people's moods, alignment, and things like that. And, I can move things without touching them."

She let go of her grip on the lightsaber and pulled her hand back. The saber stayed where it was, though. With a flick of her wrist, she made it do a circle, and took hold of it again, giving the other girl a modest shrug.

"Spun world, you come from, kiddo," Mel said with a smirk. "I don't think I'd mind the movin' things with your mind. Could poke a whole lotta lurks that way. Save me some time and seri strendu work." Mel nodded several times, tucking her hands into her pockets.

"So what in the ruttin' hell are midichlorines?" Mel asked, arching an eyebrow as she moved over towards the hammock, which wasn't more then fifteen feet away, and sat down, rocking back and forth slowly.

The young padawan followed the other girl when she moved to the hammock, deactivating her lightsaber and hooking it back to her belt. She chose to stand, however, feeling more comfortable and Jedi-like doing so.

"They're, well," even to Ahsoka, this part always sounded a little ridiculous, despite the fact that she'd been seen her own midi-chlorians under a microscope before, "microscopic organisms that live in the bloodstreams of Force-users. They allow us to communicate with the Force. The higher midi-chlorian count you have, the stronger you are. My master has the highest count on record."

Melaka way quiet for a moment, looking at the younger girl with a somewhat confused look on her face. After a minute or so she cleared her throat then spoke. "So...germs...in your blood let you talk to this Force-thingy that can help you do all sorts of special tricks?" Melaka asked slowly, hoping she didn't sound as crazy as this Force thing seemed to be.

Ahsoka shrugged, the two stripped lekku that hung across her shoulders curling in slightly towards her neck. "Basically, yeah. I know it sounds a little weird, but that's how it works and has for thousands of years."

"Well, if it's been that way for a thousand years, gotta be doin' somethin' right," Mel said with a chuckle.
