Characters: OU!Melaka Fray, OPEN Where: The Grounds in general (All over) When: Night Summary: Mel goes a-patroling. Who does she run into? Only the shadow knows.... Warnings: Anything could happen.
After a short while, the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. She was being followed...but it wasn't a lurk. More importantly, it wasn't Harth. On a whim, she began scaling the nearest wall, using pits and large cracks in the wall as toeholds. She'd slipped once...no, twice, but made it to the room, running as quietly as possible, before dropping down to the alley below. She moved around to the corner of the next building, stopping there and shallowing her breath, so it was very hard to hear.
Alice was used to climbing crevices and ledges: boiling lava right under you made you exceptionally careful and quite skillful at that sort of thing. What was more, her training with Leonaidas had certainly helped in scaling. She would have approved of his obstacle course, but sadly, that was not to be.
Still, trailing this person was fun, and she could see, after a minute, that she was hiding out of sight. This was also familiar to Alice: she too had to be an exceptional hider, for rooks and boojum were a rather beastly sort of thing to run into. She was quiet on her feet, however, and searched quietly.
Melaka moved, very, very slowly, to start up the next building, making only the tiniest noise. She was thankful that her scythe didn't bounce off the wall or make any sort of rattling noise as she went, for it would give her away.
When she reached the roof, she crossed it quickly, making her way to the furtherest former air conditioning unit, then sat down, waiting for her stalker.
Alice followed, but only barely. It was certainly Leonaidas's training that came in handy now: she would have never managed such a thing in Wonderland, where the villains were loud and bumbling, believing their violent tendencies and firepower and appearance was more than enough to unman her. Of course, they failed to realize that Alice was cutthroat, quiet, but swift.
Like the girl she followed now. No one but a trained warrior could be this quiet, this fast. It stirred Alice's blood, and still she followed, getting closer and closer. Now she fully intended to speak proper to this girl. She had certainly made her curious.
Mel's legs swung back and forth lazily as she sat on the air conditioner and hummed softly to herself as she waited. Her stalker would appear soon enough. Lifting her hand, she scratched at the back of her neck, sort of wishing she'd had something to drink before she'd gone out to, supposedly, patrol. No such stinkin' luck for her. Besides, have to save the booze for the party.
Alice found the girl easily enough: once she eliminated the possibilities of where she could go, she found her, and Alice gave the girl a wry grin.
"You're good," Alice said. "I almost lost you. But then, I can't say I'd hardly expect that from someone like you, could I? I don't know you by name, but I should say from what I've seen today, I want to know your acquaintance. My name is Alice. Who might you be?"
Melaka chuckled softly when Alice said she'd almost lost her. She could have lost her easy, but felt like confronting her stalker and avoiding her given duty instead. Seemed fine with her. "Melaka Fray," Mel nodded in greeting.
Something niggled at the back of her mind. She knows this girl from before. She stopped her eyes from widening as she realized that this was the girl that she and Duo had stolen that time stop-y watch from. Ruttin' hell. Thank Jesu, she never saw my face.
Alice surveyed the girl carefully. She may have been clever, but Alice was very adapt at reading body language: she had to, in her line of work. Melaka seemed to be hiding something, and Alice figured it might be a little while before she figured out what that was. She watched her a moment.
That caused her to laugh, and she looked off to the side then back at Alice. "You could say that. Could say I was made for it, actually," Mel nodded, looking at Alice. "Ain't it hard to climb in a dress?" She asked, arching an eyebrow.
"I see. So we're similar in that manner." Alice looked down at the dress she was wearing. "Not especially. It;s something I wore in my time, and so I learned to make do. Not the best fashion statement, I expect, but I did get to do a few modifications."
Of that, of course, Alice was speaking of the mark of Jupiter on her right pocket and the ankh around her neck.
"I getcha," Mel nodded with a chuckle. Still kinda odd. Could have req'd pants so she didn't have to worry about climbing in a dress, but, it was her decision. Won't be catching Mel running around in a dress anytime soon.
"Stalk people in the mid of night on a daily basis or is it the occas? When the mood strikes?"
Alice nodded. "It is what I wore in my world, I suppose you could say the only reason I continue wearing it now are for for sentimental reasons. Besides, if I wore knickers like you lot, I couldn't wear my boots, and I'm rather fond of them."
Alice smiled. "You could say I'm a bit restless. I haven't the patience for the usual goings on in Econtra, as my purpose in being here, I'm sure, is to fight, not to indulge myself in other people's problems. If I see someone who shares that, I tend to want to know more about them."
"You could always wear shorter pants. Up to the shins," Mel suggested, lifting her leg and pointing to just below her knee before lowering it.
"Restless? I can 'stand that. And this place is spun, to be sure. What with the weirdness happenin' every other week, 'bout makes you wanna slam your head into the wall so you pass out."
Pants to the shins. Hmm. She'd have to look into that. She'd want a particular style, of course, and she had to trust the maker. She had heard rumour of that Keiji character, the pervert that made wonderful clothing. She'd heard of Tomoyo too, but she figured Keiji might be the tailor for her.
"I may consider a change," Alice said, "Still, as long as I am having to stay here, I still have to familiarize myself with my weapons and my stealth. I was not exactly a desirable in my world among the more refined, but what I can do I do well."
"Upper folk usually snub the people they think are below them. When they're lower than anythin'. It's toy, but it's how the world goes 'round," Mel shrugged, her scythe, strapped to her back, wiggled a little with the shoulder movement.
"And I totally 'stand the keepin' yourself sharp. If I wasn't suck a laze, I'd be out evernigh doin' this. Summers makes me look like the worst slayer to come out of slayerdom," Mel said with a chuckle. "And I'm kinda fine with that. Only half a slayer, anyway."
