It hadn't taken the goddess all that long to pick up the basics. It was really quite simple once you got down to it and the forms weren't all that hard to memorize, though Persephone knew practicing and applying what she learned to a real fight were two entirely different things, which is why she found herself continuing to go to these sessions. You know, ignoring the fact that Robin was there, of course ( ... )

Robin hid a smile behind his hand as he joined the goddess. "Your sparring partner isn't playing fair?" He teased. "Just as well you've got another."

He gauged the distance between himself and the plant thoughtfully. Although he was much shorter than Persephone, that didn't stop him from turning to the goddess with an offer to get it down for her. "Want me to ... ?"

Persephone only just managed to suppress an eyeroll. Only just. She was a nature goddess -- if she couldn't get her own things back from a plant, then what would she ever amount to? Though no matter the intensity of the death glare the girl was giving the vine, it wouldn't let up. Teasingly it shook the staff high above her head, daring her to try something.

After a moment or so, she finally responded, "...Alright, fine."

Robin placed his hand on her arm as he passed - a very brief gesture -- Kragok's comments had rattled him more than he'd have liked to admit. "See what you and the briar can do working together," he suggested, giving his leafy opponent a short bow, the same as he would any other sparring partner.

Persephone blushed faintly at the touch, though made no move otherwise to acknowledge it; while she didn't fear Harley or any other villain from his world in the slightest, but as her friend and beau, the goddess would honour his want for secrecy.

Raising a hand, the bramble dropping the staff into it, Persephone asked, eyebrows quirked, "You want to fight both of us?"

That word again. It was a really good thing that Robin was not currently privy to Persephone's thoughts as he assumed a battle-ready stance. "Why not?" he said. "It's much more likely that you'll be using your powers to fight against a foe rather than attack yourself, so let's practice that."

"If that's what you wish," Persephone replied with a smirk. Goddess versus mortal boy. Versus plant. Not exactly battle of the century material, but still fairly interesting in its own right.

As she moved into a stance of her own, the thorned vine beside her sank, coiling itself like a spring.

The plant's movement suddenly reminded Robin very strongly of Poison Ivy. He hoped that he wouldn't regret this -- but he didn't allow himself time to think about that prospect. Instead, as the vine brought the staff lower, he went for that.

The comparison to Poison Ivy, if voiced, would have given Persephone an idea. Not a good idea, but an idea nonetheless! As Robin went for the vine, the goddess moved to meet him at the same time the plant did, aiming a blow to his gut.

Definitely not a good idea.

She was already making really good progress -- the attack was a lot more coordinated than her performance at the Legion tryouts had been. Robin was grinning as feinted then dodged. Persephone, it seemed, just keeped surprising him.

Surprises were something that Persephone was good at. With a grin of her own, both goddess and plant retreated, the bramble moving to curl itself in a wide arc around the girl as if to defend her. Glancing out of the corners of her eyes, Persephone looked to find the nearest tree. It wasn't all that far, but far enough she couldn't use it. If she could herd Robin towards one...

Robin was humming happily again as he launched himself into the fray. Persephone was on the defensive, but if he knew anything about the goddess, that only meant she was gathering her resources. He made another grab for the staff, not expecting to get it, but aiming to draw the plant and goddess out.

Oho. The vine swung as Robin lunged, the staff getting caught between his hands and the bramble tugging sharply, making an attempt to move him towards the tree. As that happened, Persephone ducked her way beneath the staff and game of tug-o-war, moving to position herself behind him and aiming to drive an elbow into his back.

Robin twisted the staff sideways, using it like a pole-vault to give more momentum to his push. The staff came with him as he moved, the masked hero ending his attack by jumping over Persephone's lunge, and using the goddesses's shoulder to launch himself well out of range of goddess or plant.

He smirked as he landed beneath a tree some distance away. "Not bad," he said, turning to face Persephone and her plant.

That... What! No fair! Persephone went stumbling forward, almost falling to the ground and just managing to right herself, the vine moving to wrap around her again in a spiral, grimacing in pain.

With a snort, she quipped, "It gets better." And oh, was that a tree branch swinging towards Robin? Why yes. Yes it was.

Robin raised an eyebrow, trying to puzzle out Persephone's meaning, but the tree branch caught him before he could and as he stumbled forward, he dropped the staff.
