Characters: AU!Yuki Judai [
misguidedherald] AU!Johan Andersen [
eightgemmaster]
Where: the school
When: the late evening
Summary: Day three of the kidnap!plot. Even though it is more than clear that these two would much prefer to never stand in the same room ever again, Johan still needs to be fed...
Warnings: Some snark and violence -- though considerably less than last time, seeing as Johan has started to learn -- and Judai being a bastard at times. Same-old, same-old. ^^
If there had ever been any true regrets within him in regards to what actions he had resorted to, that emotion had surely been triggered only by the added aggravation that his hostage was turning out to be. Any other interpretation was simply unacceptable -- and one who was so skilled in lying to himself would certainly not admit to the contrary.
However, as many faults could be placed upon Judai's shoulders, it was no easy matter to claim that blindness was one of them -- perhaps self-imposed blindness, but not one of that would permanently close his eyes to the matters that he did not wish to accept. There was active denial for that. Such denial came into play whenever uncertainty or insecurity shook the foundations upon which he had built his carefully-crafted web of motivations and perceptions. Anything which served to undermine that base could not be acknowledged -- would not be acknowledged., regardless of the circumstances.
Yet, as his gloved fingers gripped the old door's rusted handle and pulled hard, it was rather clear that rising inner conflict had served to only wear deeper at his mask of perfect impassivity. A combination of factors -- old remembrance that refused to be ignored, the nagging voice of truth which insisted that what he was doing went against all of which he had sworn to uphold, cool reason warring with white-hot impulsiveness -- forced him to stand and simply think, to judge his actions only as they deserved to be judged, with no bias or willful twisting of the truth....
Judai was a battlefield once more. And he loathed it.
The duality was even more accented by the packet wrapped in coarse paper which he was carrying -- one which contained several items of dried food, even though he had resolved to keep away from Andersen, risk of starvation be damned.
