Warnings: Some emo, a spar, and Wingzeroshipping.
Heero hadn't seen Relena in a while, not since his "tantrum" and his talk with Zechs, and he had been missing her. He crossed to her door and leaned on it a moment before knocking. He hoped Zechs was away, that it could just be them for a while.
Zechs was indeed gone for now. She didn't know where he was, but she was glad that he wasn't around right now. She opened the door up a crack to look out at who was there. "Heero." SHe said, slightly surprised. She had been keeping to herself a lot recently and it was good to see him.
"Hey," he said, leaning on the threshold to look at her. "I said I'd come, didn't I? This a good time?"
"It's just fine." She said, opening the door more to let him in. "Come on in."
He smiled slightly and entered, glancing around. "Zechs hasn't given you any grief, has he?" he asked, looking back at her.
"No. He's actually left me alone for the most part." She said with a shrug. "I still don't trust him very much." She said with a sigh. "I've been idle for too long."
"Me too," he sighed. He didn't feel much like talking about his discussion with Zechs right now. "I apologize for my behavior on the coms the other day," he said quietly. "Wufei called it infantile and I guess it was. I just...I'm so frustrated sometimes I don't know what to do with myself."
She nodded a little bit. She had been keeping up with things and she figured that they both could use a spar. "How about we go down to the park and spar? It would give us both a chance to blow off some steam."
Heero blinked at her. He had never considered this as an option, and though he had watched her fight, it was hard for him to get past the whole pacifist thing of her double. But...the offer was interesting. "Y-yeah," he said. "Sounds good."
She gave Heero a bit of a smirk. It was interesting to see his reaction to her willingness to fight. She wasn't like her double, so she didn't mind a good spar. "All right then, lets go."
He nodded and followed her from the apartment, keeping close to her as they walked.
It didn't take them long to get to the park. It felt good being out of that apartment. She honestly was getting tired of being in there.
Heero took a few steps back from her. It was a nice day. Good for a fight. He wondered if he could put aside his sentiment enough to really get a good match going. Well, if he didn't he was going to get his ass kicked, he told himself. He slid into a slightly defensive stance. "All right," he said.
She nodded, noticing his defensive stance and figuring that she would have to make the first move. She started out simple, darting towards him and swinging, aiming a punch for his gut.
Even after all this time it still weirded him out when he was reminded of how different this Relena was. He was even a little late with his defence, almost letting her hit him before catching her arm and ducking to the side, giving her arm a slight twist and pushing her away.
She stumbled a little bit, quickly catching herself and spinning back around, this time with a kick aimed for his head. She was a bit weirded out by all of this as well, because in her world he was the pacifist, but she had became used to this version of him since her arrival here.
It was a fast kick and he wasn't entirely expecting it; he managed to get an arm up to block it but he still stumbled a bit, he used the momentum from his recovery to duck and attempt to sweep at her legs before she recovered from the kick.
And down she went. She wasn't expecting the leg sweep and ended up crashing into the grass. The fall knocked some of the wind out of her, slowing her reactions a bit as she wathced him closely.
Heero wavered above her a moment, trying to decide on his next move. He backed away out of her reach. "You okay?" he couldn't help but ask.
"Just fine." She said, getting back up and shaking herself off. "No need to worry." She said with a slight smirk as she dashed at him again, swinging again, this time, for his head.
She might just be a little faster than he was, he decided. He chose not to block but to lean back, letting her knuckles just clip his face so he had enough time to step in and retaliate with his own punch, aimed for her side.
She didn't have time to block or dodge his punch, so she just had to take it. She winced as the punch connected with her side, causing her to pull away and take a couple steps back. He could hit pretty hard and she was winded again. She was faster than him, but he was physically stronger.
He forced himself to follow up, coming in on her with another punch, this time towards her face. He could feel a part of himself trying to pull back, but he knew he couldn't let himself.
She recovered enough to dodge to one side as his fist came for her face. She dropped down, copying his move from earlier and moving to sweep his legs out from under him.
He had no choice but to take the sweep and did so, landing hard on his shoulders and using his momentum to roll over to his feet. He stood, took a step back to regain his balance then launched forward, bringing an arm up with plans to seize her and throw her down.
Now she wasn't going to let him grab her and throw her, so she grabbed his arms, intending to throw him before he threw her.
He dug his feet to keep from going down, but it was awkward and she had the better grip, so he tried just using his strength to keep from getting thrown, struggling to keep his balance.
They were both having a hard time keeping their balance. She couldn't throw him, she didn't have the right angle, but she could try and trip him up. She moved, trying to hook one of her feet behind his and pull back in an attempt to throw off his balance.
He was already unsteady, her foot behind his threw him completely off. He fell, but he wasn't going down alone. He kept his hold on her as he fell backwards.
She was started when he pulled her down as well. She didn't realize that he wasn't going to let go and ended up landing in a heap ontop of him.
Heero winced as he took an accidental elbow to his gut and fell back, gazing upwards. "Ow," he said, but made no move to get up right away.
"Sorry." She said, moving to get off of him but not get up. She instead lay next to him on the grass.
"It's fine," he said. "You're good. Fast," he sighed.
"You're good too." She said. "Stronger than I am."
He nodded, reaching to find her hand in the grass. "We need to do this more often," he sighed.
"It's a good way to get out some agression without anything getting messed up." She said with a slight smile.
"Yeah," he sighed. "I'm stupid sometimes," he admitted.
"Everyone gets stupid sometimes." She said softly, looking up at the sky.
Heero closed his eyes for a few long moments. "I shouldn't," he said. He took a deep breath. "I met with Zechs," he said very quetly.
She looked over at him. "What did he have to say?" She asked, looking at him.
"He wants to organize the compound," he replied. "Make us a true army that can hopefully defeat the Entropi. He wants my help doing it."
"It's been tried before...and it hasn't worked." She said with a sigh. "It would do this place some good, but I doubt that it would work."
He nodded. "That's what I told him. He said we had something we didn't before...him." he actually snorted a quiet laugh.
"I doubt anyone would listen to him either. Most would probably just ignore him." She said, sitting up and looking over at him.
He looked up at her. "I know," he said. "But he wants to try. I...I said I'd help him." he said, frowning. "It's something to do. An action. A goal. And it's also a way to keep a eye on him."
"I'll help out if you need it." She said. "It sounds like something worth doing, but the people here don't seem to want to become an army, even thought that's what we are."
He nodded. "I'm sure we can use the help. I feel...I don't know. Like I'm giving into something. It feels like a surrender."
"It's not a total surrender. We're still soldiers, forced to fight. We might as well do what we're good at." She said sadly.
"I never wanted to be forced to do anything again," he replied in a similar tone.
"Neither did I."
He reached up to brush some hair from her face. "I guess there's nothing we can do about it. I guess that's why I joined Zechs. I just...doing nothing is driving me crazy and like I told Quatre, if I'm going to be used, I'd rather Zechs than the Warden."
"I'm still here for you." She said, reaching up and gently taking his hand. "We've both been used and abused in this place. I hate it, but if we're going to be used, we might as well put our skills to use."
He nodded and squeezed her hand. "I know," he sighed. "It's better than doing nothing...or breaking things," he admitted.
"Breaking things just ends up hurting everyone." She said with a sigh. "It just causes more anger."
"Yeah," he sighed. "And it's a mess to clean up," he added with just a slight smile.
"Which is a pain." She said, returning the slight smile.
"Exactly," he replied. "Not to mention how difficult it is to explain the chair through the window."
"Another one of the oddities of Econtra?" She offered
"That works." He turned suddenly so he could lean a little against her. "Thanks," he sighed.
"It's no problem, Heero." She said, leaning against him a little bit as he leaned against her.
He moved so he could slide an arm around her. "Maybe not, but it helps. You help. A lot."
She nodded again, snuggling against him. "We should probably head back..."
"Sure." He held her a moment longer, then gave her a squeeze before releasing her. He stood up, and offered her a hand.
She took the offered hand and pulled herself up. "We shold do this more often." She said, dusting herself off.
He pulled her in close before releasing her. "Yeah," he said. "We should."
"It'll do us both some good." She said, pulling him along as she headed back to the apartments.
"I think so," he said, letting her lead him back. "Sometimes I just itch for a fight. I don't want to hurt anyone but I just...need that struggle. And it almost feels good to get hit..." he stopped, realizing how that must sound.
She covered a small laugh, looking over at him. "It's all right. I understand. I feel the same way sometimes."
"Thanks," he mumbled again. He knew if anyone could understand, she would.
"We've been through a lot of the same things." She said softly, looking down for a moment.
"Yeah." He hated thinking about that, about how she had to endure the miserable life he had gone through. He pulled her closer.
She didn't think about it much, she tried not to dwell on her past or his. She let herself be pulled closer and sighed softly. "We'll get through this....somehow."
Heero merely nodded, brushing his face against her hair.
She pulled away after a few minutes to pull him towards her apartment. "Stay with me tonight?" She asked, looking at him
"Yeah," he sighed. "Sounds nice."
She opened the door of her apartment again and motioned him inside.
He entered with a slight smile, reaching out to draw her in close.
She let herself be pulled in, smiling up at him.
He slid his arms around her and kissed her gently.
She returned the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck.
It felt so nice. He pushed down his worries and fears for a little while. Right now was all about the moment. He tightened his grip and deepened the kiss.
She moaned softly as the kiss was deepened. It had been a long time since they had kissed like this. She finally broke the kiss after a few minutes, needing some air. "It's been too long, Heero."
"Yeah it has," he agreed, nuzzling her a bit.
She smiled at him, pulling him back towards her bedroom.
He let her lead him along, smiling the whole time.
