Characters: OU!Flonne, OU!Vector Where: Nyi-Dyo, then the park When: Yesterday afternoon Summary: Flonne drags her roommate out for a picnic. Warnings: None.
Vector really had no reason to be in a good mood lately. Econtra itself was driving the reptile mad with boredom and homesickness. However, he decided that a little outside time with his roommate might cheer him up a bit, so when he appeared before her, he'd be doing it with a smile, however small it may have been.
"'Course. You gonna be alright?" Vector asked with a raised brow. The fireworks the night before hadn't exactly been a secret, and he was a bit concerned for his naive little friend. He had no idea how angel's metabolisms worked, so he couldn't even make an educated guess about her current condition.
Flonne nodded vigorously to reassure him she'd be fine. "I'm feeling great!" This statement was accompanied by a feeble attempt to carry the heavy basket, earning it a place on the floor. Thankfully, nothing fell out, but it was embarrassing.
"Oops..." She frowned as she stared at it. Maybe she should've gripped it tighter or asked him to carry it instead.
The crocodile couldn't help but grin a little wider at the angel's attempt. "Here, I'll take care of it..." With practically no effort, Vector leaned down to pull up to basket and help Flonne up with his other hand. It didn't bother him that he had to carry it, really...after all, there was little he considered heavy.
"You sure you're alright...?" He wouldn't start walking until he was reassured. If worse came to worse, he'd carry her down outside. Vector highly doubted she was any heavier than the basket anyway.
Happily accepting his assistance, Flonne flashed him another bright smile. She was so lucky to have made a friend like him! "Thank you! I think I'm fine..." After taking a few moments to dust herself off, she nodded. No damage had been done and she'd hate for something so minor to ruin their day out.
The little angel grabbed the blanket from off the counter. She'd be a terrible friend if she let him carry everything, even if she couldn't hold much.
Vector grinned softly still, heading out the door and respectfully waiting for Flonne with the door open. "Where too?" He wasn't in a rush...he needed this whole excursion something fierce.
An eye was cast down the hallway before he focused on the angel again.
Flonne didn't hesitate to follow, only pausing at the door so she could dramatically point in the air as she exclaimed, "The park!"
With that little outburst out of the way, she continued on her way, a little skip to her step as she lead the way. It was sad that Etna and Laharl weren't here to enjoy this with them, but spending time with her new friend was just as important. "It's nice and sunny out, so it should be just the thing to cheer you up."
Vector gave her a thumbs up and continued on his way after her, shaking his head a bit. Never in all of his life had he seen someone so cheery...except one of his teammates of course, but in a different way. Charmy was always a little more aggressive, even though he knew the kid meant well. It had been one of the reasons he let him on the team in the first place, because he knew he could handle it.
He wasn't even aware that he was missing his teammate until he tried comparing the two, which caused him to sigh mentally.
Completely oblivious to anything that could be upsetting the crocodile, Flonne lead them out of the apartment building and right into the park, which was thankfully only a stone throw away. It had been part of the reason why she chose this particular building to stay in.
"Isn't it pretty out?" The angel picked out a spot near a group of flowers and spread the blanket out, careful not to crush any of the plants. After all, it was impossible to tell if the flowers were a fellow angel or not, and she didn't want to ruin any of their chances of getting back to normal.
"Yeah...nice day," Vector added, glancing up towards the sun with a hand shielding his eyes. Once the blanket had been laid out, the crocodile placed the basket down on the corner. "Never realized how close we were..."
The crocodile hadn't gotten out much since he arrived. He never really had any interest in doing so. Things he actually cared about doing were virtually impossible in a place like this anyway.
"I like coming here all the time. All the flowers are so pretty~!" She sat down on the blanket, staying by the edge so she was right next to the plants. Flonne had made it a point to visit the park every so often to keep the flowers company, just in case. It wasn't always the most exciting activity, but it was an enjoyable one.
A whole new definition to stopping to smell the roses, Vector mused. He had never really seen the big deal about flowers...but they were nice to look at some times, he guessed. The crocodile joined her, perching himself by the basket and moving it between them so they could both have their pick of what was inside.
"I've only really been down here once...when I first got here," Vector admitted, rubbing the back of his head a bit awkwardly.
"How come? I thought you'd want to go swimming or something..." Flonne blinked, a little confused as she watched him. Weren't crocodiles supposed to like that sort of thing? Sure, she had never met one that could talk or acted like him before, but she could've swore that book she read about the mortal plane mentioned something about them being swimmers.
Maybe things were different in his world. If that was the case, she was more than happy to learn about it.
"Yeah, I've been swimming once...when I got here," Vector answered pointedly, opening the basket and offering it to her. "I've just never thought about doing it again, I guess..."
"We could always go swimming together!" Given her current residence in the Netherworld, swimming hadn't be on the top of anyone's activity list. There weren't any places nearby that would be really appropriate for it.
When the basket was offered to her, she nodded at him and smiled in thanks, before reaching in to pull out the simple sandwich she had made for herself.
"Heheh...we could do that," Vector responded, grinning again when he pulled the basket back towards him to pull out the meat stored inside. He made have been more civilized than his quadrupedal siblings, but some things never changed.
