"Hello, Ying Fa-san," Albel replied, opening the door. "I'm, um, glad you could make it." Though I wish all this wasn't necessary...

She looked at him worriedly. "Albel-san, I'm so sorry." The girl had a bad habit of apologizing for things she had nothing to do with. She stepped inside quietly, taking a moment to look around. Yes, she could feel it. A trace of Yelan's magic remained. The best way to confirm that would be to use the Return card, but she no longer had it with her. After the split, which had been done to save her life, it had been Xiao Lang who held that card, along some others. That didn't mean, however, that she had nothing else up her sleeve.

"Sheifa-neesan said she'll be here in a while," Ying Fa said as she drew two Cards from her pouch bag and touched them against the pendant on the necklace that hung around her neck. "Mirror. Create. Show me what happened," she chanted softly, closing her green eyes.

Albel shook his head. "You don't need to apologize, Ying Fa-san."

He stood to one side, watching. He'd never seen magic worked with cards before, but he supposed it was like how symbology had to be performed with runes nearby - which was why Aquaria's runologists had them tattooed onto their bodies. Mirror and Create... that will allow her to look into the past?

It won't be accurate, Ying Fa knew. The thing she wanted to accomplish was something she needed to use Return for. But she also didn't have to see everything. She only needed to get a better feel of what kind of magic Yelan had used on Sheifa that time. She was hoping to recreate the magic pattern, nothing more ( ... )

Albel looked at her questioningly. "How? What do we do?"

The girl opened her mouth to say something, but quickly decided against it. She could feel someone else approaching, someone who might not be too willing to undergo what she had in mind.

And there was a knock on the door.

Outside, Sheifa waited uneasily.

Albel opened the door apprehensively. "Morning Star..." he said quietly. "You're here."

"I..." Sheifa turned away. "I'll just leave, then..."

Albel looked at her helplessly. "No, Sheifa, I..."

"I understand," Sheifa said quietly. At least she'd seen him and she knew he was okay.

She turned to leave, but the younger girl ran out of the room and hugged her. "Sheifa-neesan!" Ying Fa cried out, holding on tightly that Sheifa knew she just had to hug her back.

"Sakura. What's wrong?" she asked worriedly.

Ying Fa shook her head. "I'm okay. I'm here to help you."

The redhead looked at Albel and her expression softened. He said he'd find a way. This seemed like it, and she was grateful. "I see."

Albel nodded. "Ying Fa thinks she might be able to break the curse."

Sheifa suddenly felt like she was going to cry. Such a sweet girl Ying Fa was. And Albel, he really did his best to find a way, didn't he? She loved them both, and loved them a lot.

"Thanks, sweetie," she said, hugging Ying Fa again.

The Card Mistress looked down. "But I'm not sure it's going to work, Sheifa-neesan. I mean-"

"I'll take my chances." Sheifa turned to Albel. "You're okay with that, right?"

Albel shrugged. "I don't see that we really have much of a choice. Yelan offered to break the curse once - but if there wasn't a catch before, there certainly will be now."

Ying Fa watched their exchange with a half-curious, half-worried expression.

On the other hand, Sheifa simply nodded. "Alright." She closed her eyes for a moment as if to ready herself, then looked back at Albel. "I think you might want to put away all your weapons, though. Just in case." She held up her arms as if in surrender. "I'm unarmed, but if something goes wrong, I might suddenly get a bright idea. That dagger is very tempting."

Albel nodded and slipped into one of the bedrooms, putting the dagger in the same place he usually kept the Crimson Scourge. He wasn't sure if Sheifa knew the weapons would be under his bed, but he'd try to stand between her and the bedroom door just in case.

Ying Fa watched Albel enter one of the rooms and then shot Sheifa a puzzled look. Sure, he'd mentioned the curse, but she really wasn't that sure what it was all about. "Ne, Sheifa-neesan ( ... )
