L collapsed to his knees and pressed his forehead into the cool grass, groaning. For a moment, he thought of it as nuzzling into a void, into eternal darkness and away from this all-consuming pain.
There was a small jolt from his wrist as the brace there sent another wave into him, forcing life into his dying heart again and he moaned as he sagged completely, lying on his side in the green at the foot of a rose bush. His vision was blurred and behind his eyes he saw the white corridors again and heard that voice...
