Royalle wandered aimlessly through the compound, looking at faces and people, trying to remember more about her future. No success though. Everyone she had seen so far had just been like looking at a blank wall. No one even looked slightly familiar.

But then she saw the smiling, humming person and it was like a light bulb had gone off in her head. This person she knew. She gave a small smile and walked over to them. "Hello. I know you, right?"

Belldandy looked over and smiled happily. "Ah, Royalle-san! You seem happier today." She said. She paused. "Oh, you don't recognize me? I suppose that makes sense with my form like this...I'm Belldandy."

Belldandy... Yes, she knew the name. Once the name had been said, she remembered knowing it. But that was it. She didn't remember anymore. Not a face, not anything.

"Ah, well, you see... With all the mess happening right now, it seems that I forgot the last 11 years of my life. So while I know I've been here, I don't actually remember what has happened. So then... I've actually forgotten everyone."

"Oh, I see. I think I did hear something about that." Belldandy said, looking thoughtful. "Well, I'm Belldandy, one of your not so close friends." She said with a bright smile.

Oh, a friend of hers. Another person that the real Royalle knew. Who the real Royalle was friends with. "Ah, so then I have good friends in the future. That's good. I was beginning to think that I was only unhappy." But this person wasn't her friend. She wasn't the real Royalle after all.

"And now, of course." Belldandy said. "And you were a bit sad, but you could still be happy." Belldandy said reassuringly. Let Royalle be her 'friend.' If this transformation was permanent, then she would already be her puppet.

Royalle smiled a bit. "I hope my future self can remember that. It would be nice if she could smile like this too." After all, her future self had the memories. It wasn't fair for her to have the memories but not be able to be happy. Not that she was exactly happy either. "I hope she figures out how to escape her sadness."

"It's certainly possible for her to do so. She just has to find the way." Belldandy said encouragingly.

Find the way... She wondered if such a thing was really possible for her future self. Something, perhaps from the future, told her that it would be hard, if it was possible. But there was no sense in worrying someone else over her own problems so Royalle just smiled a bit more. "Yes! She sure does. I'm sure that one day she'll figure it out," she lied smoothly.

Belldandy smiled. Of course she knew Royalle was lying. "If you believe that, then I'm sure she will."

Royalle's face felt frozen in the smile. She felt like she couldn't let it down, or she'd be betraying the care people had given her older self. "I do. Just as I can't stay sad forever, I'm sure she can't stay sad forever either."

"Exactly. Those sort of traits are always in there somewhere, even when a person changes." Belldandy said.

Royalle nodded. "And that's why I hope that she can escape whatever is trapping her down in the future." Whatever it was. But if this person knew her future self... Maybe they'd know what that was. "Do you know what it is that's trapping me in the future?"

"Yes, but I won't tell you." Belldandy said.

Won't tell her? Royalle blinked. "Why?"
