Can't... resist... coming to play... okinyanko June 29 2008, 21:05:08 UTC
PREY! He pounced and predictably, he missed. That butterfly was a quick one! He tensed and stalked along the ground toward where the butterfly had landed, tail twitching in excitement and his ears flattening as he slowly crawled up to it. He wiggled and tensed, preparing himself, before letting out a loud, "NYAH!" and pouncing. Which got him no where since the butterfly flew away again.

He jumped to his feet and chased after it, as it flew, jumping to catch it when he thought he was getting close enough. Though, he lost interest in the flapping wings when it flew past a pair of feet. Ears flattening and tail swishing in obvious hesitancy, Fay moved to walk under the branch, looking up at a young boy about the same age as himself. "Hm...? What're you doin' up there?"

((OOC: We should have a three way log with this, with Kuro-mama taking them on a picnic or something~))

He glanced up when he heard a noise, but disregarded it and went back to being bored. No one looked familiar in this place and the animals acted funny. He feel better if he knew where home was at least. A butterfly broke his thoughts and Kurogane stopped to watch it fly by. He smiled at it flew off into the sky. At least the bugs are the same.

The sound of a kid's voice made his eyes drop to the ground. The boy looked like those traders that would sometimes come. Kurogane studied the boy with interest. Not only was this the first kid his age he'd seen here but he had a tail. And ears... Kurogane blinked and wondered if he was a demon or something. "Sitting... Why do you have a tail?" A question for a question.

((OOC: Yes~))

The other sniffed at the air to catch his scent, finding nothing frightening about it. It was actually intriguing. Kinda smells good... Flushing a bit and offering a smile, his tail swished and his ears twitched as the other pointed out (very obviously) that he had them. "I've had 'em since I was little! My father gave 'em to me!" He answered, his smile faltering at the word father for a moment. Then he looked curious and walked up to the tree so he could see underneath the branch better. "Aren't you scared you're gonna fall?" As long as they were playing the question answer game... "And how'd you get up there anyway?"

"Oh," the answer left Kurogane wondering why a father would make his son look like a cat. He pushed that thought aside in favor of the questions. "No, I'm good at climbing." Kurogane swung his feet a little harder to alert the other boy that he was ten feet up to prove that he was good at climbing trees. He stopped and lifted an arm to point down at the trunk of his tree, "It's easy!" Kurogane beamed down at the other. He dropped his hand and thought of his questions. "Do you know anyone here? Or know where we are?"

"Hm?" Fay glanced at the trunk he pointed at and put both hands on it. "Whao! You can do that! All the way up there? That's so cool!" He looked amazed, because Fay could never climb that high!! He didn't seem to make the connection that high up in a tree meant hurting yourself if you fell, so didn't worry so much about Kurogane's swinging feet or hand above his head. He was more grinning in response to Kurogane's friendly beaming ( ... )

Kurogane looked proud at the other boy's amazement. He could probably get even higher, but this branch looked good for sitting on. His face dropped a bit when the other's ears folded. "Me too..." Even to the thing he hadn't heard. Kurogane sighed softly wondering if his mother was alright.

He blinked at the question. Happy to have something to do now, he smiled, "Easy!" Kurogane made his way along his branch and down the way he had gone up. He landed on the grass and looked the other boy in the eye. "I can show ya if you want." Kurogane watched to tail swish, it was an odd thing to see.

Fay watched him climb down with curiosity. When he landed next to him and looked him in the eye, all Fay could think of was; "monkey...." He blinked in surprise as though he hadn't even said that, before starting to giggle. "You remind me of a little monkey!" He smiled warmly, tail swishing, before nodding and looking determined. "Yes! Show me and teach me! I want to be able to climb the tree real high like you!"

"Eh?... I'm not a monkey!" Nor was he little, but the monkey was a far larger insult. Monkeys smelled funny. Looking at the other boy smile it seemed that they weren't fighting words so he just brushed them off.

"Right." He shifted to a focused look to figure out how to teach someone how to climb a tree. Guess They could go branch by branch. "First, you stand on this," he moved to stand on a large knot sticking out at the base of the tree. "Then ya just pull yourself up like this." Kurogane reach for a higher branch and jumped a bit to swing his leg over a lower branch. He stood up on that one, bracing himself with one hand on the tree's trunk. Kurogane grabbed the next branch and hanged off of it to find his footing in order to sit on the next branch. He looked down at the other to make sure he was watching. Kurogane was only five feet up but it was the other's first time so that might be enough for now. So he just slipped off the branch to stand back on the grass. "I'll stay down here to catch you."

Fay only giggled some more, and watching the other climb only fortified his thoughts. He kept them to himself though, seeing as he was more interested in watching the other climbing effortlessly anyway. And considering he was half cat, it was a bit easier for him to copy the other's first steps. He did the jumping and the crossing and the standing and the bracing. It was at the hanging he started to get nervous. He clutched on to the branch he was holding on to and closed his eyes tightly. He wasn't even that far up... it was still scary though... He took a deep breath and with his eyes still closed copied Kurogane's last move which... ended up failing since he wasn't looking. "Eh!?" His hand slipped, making him cry out and let go of the branch. And he, as predicted, fell.

Kurogane should have know. Cats were great at climbing trees. Though the boy was only half cat and likewise fell half way. "Whoa!" Kurogane moved to catch the other boy only realizing that this might hurt when the added weight sent him crashing to the ground. He landed with on "oof" with a blond catboy on top of him. His arms spread wide he stared up at the tree leaves blowing pleasantly against the blue sky background. Good thing the grass was soft.

He groaned slightly and opened his once screwed shut eyes when he realized he hadn't met his death. He blinked in confusion, sitting up and trying to figure out what happened. Only to realize he was on top of flesh and not soft grass. "YAAAHH!!" He jumped up in shock, blushing and covering his mouth, standing up so fast he tripped and fell right back on to his butt. "I'm so sorry!" He cried, muffled by his hands, ears flat and tail bushing out. He dropped his hands and looked over him quickly. "Are you hurt!?"

Kurogane felt much better when the excess weight was off of him and he could breath again. "No," looking and sounding no worst for ware. "You almost had it though." He looked back up at the branch the other had fallen from and crossed his legs. Kurogane looked back down at the other and looked thoughtful for a second. Then he decided that he would introduce himself to the other, "I'm Kurogane."

He calmed down as soon as the other said he was fine, drooping and sighing in relief. "Oh good... I would have felt terrible..." He watched the other with a relieved smile, which turned to curiosity as the other glanced up. He did too. And when the other glanced back at him he blinked and met his gaze quickly. He ended up flushing a bit, his tail curling around him shyly, and he smiled that little I'm really shy about being around you smile, hands held together tightly and rocking himself side to side slightly. "Nice to meet you... my name's Fay~"

He gave Fay a friendly smile, "Did ya wanna try again, Fay-kun?" Kurogane himself could climb the tree again. It worried his mother when he did but he was always really careful so he wouldn't fall. Well, as careful as any eight year old could be. He sat up a bit, ready to move if the other wanted to climb some more. Or they could find something else to do... There had to be stuff to do here.

Fay gushed with happiness because he had found a new friend here in this scary place. It helped him feel a little bit more secure. He nodded shyly and moved to stand, his ears flopping over. "Um... if you promise you'll be there with me... I'll try again."

"I will!" Kurogane jumped up to his feet. He looked down at Fay expectantly, waiting for the other to start climbing. He started thinking of some tips Otosan had given him when he was (behind Okasan's back) teaching Kurogane how to climb trees. "Just don't look down and focus on where ya want to go."
