[Thread] Warden's Orientation [ALL]

The arena area is large and open, with a floor made of a hard, rubber-like substance. There are no windows, only a high ceiling and wide doors which admit those who have been ordered here. People file in, one or two at a time, first a dozen and then another until all of those who have been abandoned in this place are present. At the far end of the ( Read more... )

"How exactly does the Consulo select who arrives here?" Light asked, appearing relaxed yet ever on guard. "Is there some glitch that allows multiple versions of each individual somehow?" he added with a sidelong glance towards where his own counterpart stood in the crowd.

"Each of you has something unique about you, something that has triggered the Indigeo's program. And glitch is the wrong term for the duplicates that have been selected. While it was not our original intention, we have allowed the Indigeo's program to run uinhindered as it has statistically increased our chances at success."

Light caught Raito's glance. Roger that, he thought.

After the Warden replied, he followed up:

"You mentioned you let Indigeo run unhindered. By statistically, you must mean the diversity of talents increases your chances at success, so you would not want the remaining barracks filled with clones and clones of the same individual."

"So, will there be a maximum of two potential versions of any one individual?"

"We do not know. When the first duplicates were noticed, we investigated. However, you may have noticed that although they are duplicates of the same person, very often they will not display the same characteristics as the other."

Light smiled. Annnnd, for today's special, a delectable understatement.

"Yes, I've noticed some differences between myself," he touched his chest, "and Raito, over there," he gestured into the crowd.

"I specifically wanted to know if you'll stop the Indigeo program from hauling more Lights into Econtra," he continued. "I don't want to wake up tomorrow morning to find that there are Lights here, Lights there, and Lights everywhere, running the place!" he said.

"...I don't think anyone else here would want Econtra overrun with Lights either!" he added, with a laugh.

"So, will you stop the Light-fest at two?" he asked, pointedly, but still grinning.

"Interesting," the Warden intoned, noting the duplicates. "As I said, the Indigeo has created the situation with the duplicates by itself. It is a semi-sentient AI. We have never come across any indication of more than a pair appearing. Sufficely, we do not believe Econtra will be overrun."

"Is there any way to know exactly where or when duplicates come from?" Raito asked, somewhat more curious now. "That is, how much possibility is there of people we actually know from our realities arriving here as well? I know that one of my friends already knows several people but they aren't anything close to his reality."

"Unfortunetly, not that this time. Truthfully, there are more pressing matters for us to handle at the moment."
