Long days and little to do to relax made for a cranky Grandmaster, and nothing showed this more as he tromped to Atem's hole, ready to pull the human out from the ground and take her to shelter. Still, he mused, it was a distraction from other thoughts bothering him, and he was unwilling just yet to admit that he was in completely over his head with this new place.

...The hole. Great. Now to get this over with. He stepped to the hole and poked his head over it, glancing down. "You rang for a rescue mission?" he asked.

Atem glanced up, and didn't even do a double take at the red echidna looking down at her. "I did," she said, her face and tone conveying utter misery.

Kragok glared down at Atem, thinking. Finally, he lowered his cybernetic arm as much as he could, hoping Atem would get the message. "Grab on to me," he said anyway, reinforcing the message. Honestly, the crap he had to put up with.

Atem swallowed and reached out with her good arm, hissing in pain. But she persevered, digging her claws in once she had a good grip on the arm. "I'm ready," she said, her face white.

(OOC: I assume the arm is metal? ^_^;;

Kragok was surprised. For her height, she was certainly not near as heavy as expected. He stood up, lifting her easily with one arm, until he had pulled her from the hole she was in. "Your arm. How badly is it broken?"

[[You'd be right]]

Atem sighed in relief once she was on solid ground, and she let go of Kragok's arm, before flexing her own broken one, hissing again. "Two places," she said, cradling the arm again. "Damn, that was a hard fall."

"Hold it out as much as you can," he said, his eye visibly glowing brighter. If he was going to help her, he needed to know just where and how bad the breaks were inside her arm.

Atem nodded, hissing in pain as she held her arm out. Fuck that hurt!

Glaring at it, Kragok was able to vaguely pierce the skin with his vision. He continued glaring at it, widening the band on his eye until he could see the bone moderately clearly.

"Fairly simple fracture, I think," he said calmly. "You're very lucky it wasn't worse. Can you walk? I'll escort you to the infirmary, assuming this compound has one."

Atem sighed in relief. "I can walk," she said with a weak smile.

"Good," Kragok replied, "because as light as you are, you are too tall for me to carry." The Grandmaster looked away a moment, trying to force himself to say something more. He should at least make an effort to be friendly, like he had spoken to Fai about. Still, being nice to humans was not exactly second nature to the echidna, and came only with difficulty.

"May I ask you some questions?" he finally said. Wow, he thought to himself, you really came off as well-intentioned with that one.

"Thanks," Atem said sincerely. "I can direct you there, too."

She looked at him then. "Sure, ask away," she added.

Kragok walked along slowly, allowing Atem to keep up with him and point out the way to the infirmary. "If could, please tell me what you know about Vampires, Atem," he requested.

Atem sighed inwardly as she turned down the street, walking slowly towards the infirmary. Of all the topics ... but she kept her annoyance from showing. "I don't know a terrible lot about them," she confessed, "but what I do know is that some of them can exist in sunlight, apparently. At least, some of the ones I've seen here do. And the old rule about them not being able to enter a place unless they're invited doesn't hold true here."

"I did not know either of these things. Interesting." Kragok rubbed his chin in thought, thinking of something else to ask.

"Oh, right," he said to himself, looking up at Atem, his face serious and earnest, "why do human women place such importance in undergarments?"

"It's as much as I want to know," Atem muttered, before stumbling at Kragok's next question. "What?!"
