As soon as Sonic has said he was going to be coming over, Amy started cleaning up the apartment. Not that she hadn't already been doing that, but this had been that extra bit of motivation she needed to finish the job. There was no way she could let him see her place in such a state! Their first meeting after their kiss had to be as perfect as she could make it!

And... he was here. Finally here~! Her heart skipped a beat as she smoothed out her dress and took a final glance around. Yep, everything was looking good. Nice and clean, just for Sonic.

It was at the second knock that she approached the door and opened it as he finished saying his name. Amy didn't hold back as she immediately went to hug him. "Sonic! I've been waiting for you~!"

Knowing Amy, her definition of "such a state" probably meant that it was already clean and she forgot to pick up a crumb from the floor. She would have freaked out with Sonic's room. Needless to say, he lived like a teenager. Some trash and junk here and there, not too clean, not too dirty. But enough to get any mother on their son's case if they ever saw it. Amy would have fit that role nicely; but enough about what kinda nagging would happen. He was ready to take one for the team!

And the second that she opened the door, he offered a friendly smile and wave before bracing himself for the hug.

"Hey! Long time, no see." What would never change for some time, however, was how Sonic reacted. He leaned back in the slightest, something that likely wouldn't have bothered Amy. And he awkwardly wrapped his arms around her in return. As per usual; it was truly feeling like things were gonna go back to normal. Well...as normal as things got in a place where you were trained for war.

Sonic was right, his movement hadn't bothered her in the least, instead he got a bright smile as sne tried to take his hand and tug him inside.

It was troublesome trying to figure out where they stood now in the relationship spectrum. That kiss meant they were officially a couple now, right? At least, that's how she hoped Sonic viewed it. And if that was the case, should she try to kiss him now? Or was hugging good enough for a new couple? Amy may have read some light, fairy tale romance stories before, but they felt so much different from the real deal. But that's why he was here, to hang out and hopefully clear some of this up.

But there was a more pressing question that she had to ask first... "You didn't get into any trouble after I last saw you, right?" Her smile didn't falter as she asked, even if her voice was twinged with worry. This was her Sonic and she knew that no matter what he may have been faced with that week, he had obviously come out fine, like always.

And of course, Sonic stumbled as she tugged him inside. Into the lair where hence he would never return. ... Okay, not really; now he was just hamming it up in his head.

When she asked that question though, his eyes just widened. Snapping wide even, frozen in place as his emerald-hued gaze faltered as he felt himself tremble. Did Amy really have to ask that kind of question?! She was worried, her voice betraying her smile in how she was feeling. The blue hedgehog had gotten away with lying before, hadn't he? Many times, but only when it involved avoiding her or running away.

He may have told her he was in trouble...if it were any other perdicament. But something like this was so personal. He mentally sighed before he finally gained his bearings to answer, apologizing on the inside for having to keep this a secret from her. The last thing he wanted was any kind of breakdowns. Drama just wasn't his style ( ... )
