While the rest of the Compound was in shambles, Yuuko and others were in the process of maintaining a barrier around the Arena in hopes of keeping a safe place for the injured and those unable to fight to rest. Saetan was barely recognizable as he prowled into the Arena. The usual image of a benevolent, harmless old man was gone, and in its place was a Warlord Prince riding the killing edge. He was all deadly, glacial calm, icy golden eyes dangerously blank. The air around him was frigid with anger at the destruction and death. None of those who had died had worn Jewels, so none had become demon-dead. And there were too many allies and friends here for him to risk unleashing his full power.

If he had been alone in this place with no one else to protect he would have plummeted to the abyss, gathered the full dark strength of his Black Jewels and unleashed them on the Entropi. He had annihilated entire armies and worlds before, and even if it haunted him to do so he would have done it again here. He had no doubts he could have entirely destroyed their enemy; it was simply a part of what he was. But, unlike Jaenelle, he did not have the skill to differentiate between friend and foe, did not have the time to weave a tangled web that would have done that for him. So instead all he could do was defend, drop a Black Shield around the Arena and stand ready to destroy and individual invaders who made their way there.

That helplessness, more than anything else, was the reason for his fury.

"Saetan, thank you."

Yuuko had approached him from behind when she had noticed him enter. She offered him a smile, but it was grim due to the situation. Keeping up this shield would be a lot of work and she was afraid that they wouldn't be able to make it last the entire time it would be needed.

Jaenelle came over to Saetan and Yuuko, gave each a brief greeting, and demanded, "Papa, do you still have the Ebony shields on your Ring of Honor? I think with Miss Yuuko's help, we might be able to extend one of them to the inside of the Arena for additional support."

Saetan gave Yuuko a polite inclination of his head in reply to her greeting. Warlord Princes protected and served, and since she was in control here protocol dictated he defer to her, regardless of his darker Jewels. "Let me know what I can do to help, Lady."

A fond smile crossed his face at Jaenelle's arrival, which turned thoughtful at the suggesting. "Yes, I still have it. And I believe that would be a very good idea." Turning back to Yuuko, he explained, "Jaenelle created rings for each of the males in her first circle to wear around their," A cough, because this was polite conversation after all, "Well, you can figure that out. Among other things they can trigger very powerful personal shields. It would power itself, leaving us all free to work."

Yuuko seemed a little amused about where these rings were placed, but only smiled a little. Now wasn't really the time to address that. But the sounded very helpful, indeed.

"That would be a tremendous help," She said, glancing at them both. "Please do so. I'll be keeping up my barrier as well, however. Better safe than sorry, right?"

Jaenelle began getting to work, concentrating on coaxing the inert shields to expand outward, towards the inside surfaces of the wall and floors. Shielding the building was good, but if the explosions could still be felt inside, then potentiall the building could still crumble from just the shakes, and as Yuuko said, "Better safe than sorry."

"I quite agree, witch-child," Saetan replied, activating the shield and doing what he could to expand it. The Ebony Jewels that had created it were even darker than his Black ones and since Jaenelle had shattered them it would be more difficult for them to manipulate the shield but not, he hoped, impossible.

Yuuko took a few steps backwards to give them some room to work, if they needed it, but stayed near by. She felt the two shields, her own and theirs, come together and form quite the powerful blockade. Even so, the building still shook with the occasional blast.

"I believe it's working," She observed. "Though I fear all the power in the world isn't going to make this full proof."

"All we can do is keep our shields up, and pray the fighters can take care of that thing before we run out," Jaenelle said pragmatically. "If they can't, we're probably all dead."
