[ENTROPI] The Attack (ALL Chars)

Mar 27, 2008 04:04

It had arrived in the same manner as its birth, the massive discharge of energy still smoldering the crater formed where the strike connected with the ground. Twisting and pulsing, its contained form was immediately aware of the pitiful organic creatures surrounding it, trapped like insects in a too-small hive.

It released a high-pitched roar and ( Read more... )

Kane crossed staff and rapier before him in an instinctual attempt at warding off the bolt. It found resistance on the white sphere that suddenly materialized before him. Young Alex Noah's spell was a veritable dam keeping a roaring flood in check. But all too soon the sphere shattered under the Entropi's ferocity and battered down the extra shields Midna's gift had provided. Kane caught the very tail end of the attack.

Excruciating pain flared in the Puritan's body, far more intense than any blade, bullet, or outright torture he'd ever endured. The attack slowed his charge and marred his vision with bright flashes of scarlet. But Kane's righteous fury did much to embrace the pain and sustain his relentless surge.

All his life he had fought to protect the innocent in his world. It was his goal, the meaning and driving purpose of his life. Here now at this seeming center of the omniverse, that goal expanded to not just his world but every world there ever was.

Thus wounded but delivering a savage bloodthirsty cry so unlike his normal state of being, Kane brought both rapier and staff to bear on the parasitic mass, supporting the attacks of his fellow Drafted. The former weapon was as charged with divine might as his bullets had been but his staff was powered by ancient darkness from the dawn of Man. This mix of dark and light came crashing down onto the Entropi.

(OOC: Kane plays this card. He's seeing this through till fight's end.)

That card might provide Kane with...temporary...protection, but that didn't mean that the weapons he came to bare on his enemy had anymore effect than a dog's teeth on a wisp of fog. The energy present in his weapons was drained away almost instantly, ripped from the weapons, at least temporarily until they could recharge their powers. The bullets and staff themselves slipped through the Entropi's form as if passing through a loose pile of sand, leaving no mark or hurt upon the whirling cloudy surface.

In response to his arrogance, the orb of darkness lashed out with lightning strikes of powerful proportions. Kane would feel the power of his card, surprisingly, slip, despite the supposed nature of its invincibility. For no it allowed him to be flung from the Entropi's form without harm as a electric flail struck him...but would it last through another attack?

It did not.

Kane was viciously hurled back to slam into one of the Commons' many benches. It shattered under his weight and the force of his impact, lashing a white-hot wave of agony up the aged bones in his back. It was not this per se that shocked him. It had more to do with the Entropi's attack nullifying his newfound imperviousness to pain. One that should have lasted him till he perished or it did.

He laid there atop the ruined bench as the others' attacks converged on the creature and failed just as he had. For the first time since reaching his twilight years...a sense of terror and despair clawed at the Puritan's resolve. Not even he, who had trekked a bloody path through his world's darkest corners, had ever faced this manner of creature. One that did not give before blade, nor bullet, nor even magic. What chance did all Existence have when not the mightiest of every realm could not harm this foe?

A flush of rage and shame overwhelmed his despair. They were not done for until every last one of them had fallen. And did not Kane himself still breathe? He had no right to give in. There had to be a way to subdue this beast.

Even so...just how?

Lord, grant us thy wisdom.

And as if in answer to his prayer, his PDA squawked with the voice of one Usagi Tsukino. Warning them all about what had taken him two attempts to learn: attacking the Entropi would do no good. But there was a chance that they could combine their power to contain it and render it harmless. If they could not stop it, then maybe they could stop it.

It was a gamble Kane was willing to take. He had nothing left to lose.

He let go of the currently powerless staff and rapier, hands slowly, painfully, searching his pockets. There was time yet for the Entropi was currently focused on the other Drafted. Kane felt a surge of almost mad elation at locating a palm size bag of human bones. These juju trappings would serve as the beginning of a reverse barrier spell he intended to cast. One that kept something from leaving rather than entering.

All he needed now (and may he be damned before His Lord if He deemed such)...was the aid of the spirits. The Englishman was far from N'longa's equal in the ways of the shaman, but he had to try.

Lying still, Kane's blue eyes stayed shut as his lips moved in the dialect of African river tribes. He was calling out to the spirits of this world to make his spell reality.

[OOC: Feel free to describe what answers Kane's summons (ie the dead of this world or whoever). ^^ Am making this an advance action since I won't be around for much of tomorrow. When the spell is ready, Kane will throw the bones at the Entropi and they will create a magic barrier, adding another layer to any other Drafted's containment spells. Kane's is spherical and conforms to the size of the Entropi. Thanks!)

The cloudy entity's lashes came at less frequent intervals as it seemed to be focusing more on those that were attacking it directly, rather than those escaping around the fringes.

Suddenly the smoky orb went silent, crackling flails ceasing completely...

...then with a flaring roar of power, a wave of electricity burst from within the Entropi's shadowy frame, striking out at those closest to it. It was potent, jarring, but not as infinitely destructive as the whips had been. It seemed the Entropi was exchanging individual strikes for more massive damage at a closer range.
