"Residents," the Warden called, managing to be heard about the general noise of the assembled crowd without seeming to raise his voice at all. "Those whom have gathered here should be assigned to the DEFENSIVE COMBAT training division. If you are not part of this group, you are in the incorrect designated area

The sound of silk - fine reds to be exact - and shimmer of gold and metal rang through the halls with slow and almost elegant movements. A figure sunkissed golden skin with but the bottom hanging low upon his hips and golden clasps and jewels came forth into the area. He didn't bother to forward or greet much of anything else having no interest in the useless welps about him so far. Instead, Shukaku for now stayed silently by the back.

Once she stepped into the Arena, however, she was pleasantly surprised to find that the sun's effects on her were negated. The general feeling of being too warm was still there, but it wasn't unbearable and the burns she at the seams of her cloak where she couldn't block out the sun were beginning to heal.
Huh. That was interesting. At least she knew she could be SOMEWHERE in the sun around here if she needed to.
So, to business! A group. Group. Group. Group. Group!
"You! You're with me!" she declared, latching onto the first person that she saw - which happened to be Shukaku.

Mm.. he could go for some nice sake right now. Shukaku mused running slender golden digits over an opposing collar bone and paying little to no attention to this filth about him. That, or a nice nap. Ah but both would be even better.
It was within those musings he heard a sound closing in and clasped around his waist. Shukaku looked down to a female around him. He had at this moment little quarrels about such contact. Something about her seemed.. different.
"So it would seem," he mused with a voice smooth and deep as ember.

Elda could deal with that. Right now she was basking in the fact the Arena was letting her walk in the sun itself. So she took a step back from him and let her coat and hat and gloves fall to the ground as she pulled them off and tossed them about carelessly, figuring she would leave when the sun went down and it was safe.
"Elda Marker, at your service," she introduced herself with a flourished bow and then span in place, bbasking in the sunlight she hadn't been in since she was a very little girl.

"Dear Elda."
He recalled this name from when he first arrived here in Econtra. That would be why there was something quite different about her. He heard the term; vampire. Loosely thrown about when addressing this one here. The reference he was unaware of but sense it was not human it didn't need much expansion. With her welcoming and speach he didn't need much further information upon the subject.
A smile edged his lips. Fanciful one she was.
"Shukaku," those fingers dropped. Long black claws wrapped about his hips, "I do believe we have spoken."

He came to a halt at his master's side and gave the vampire a mildly curious glance but did not speak.

Elda guessed she would just have to feed a little more often. If they were all going to work together, they were going to have to trust one another. How could they trust her if she went berserk on one of them.
"Finally!" she told Shukaku after a moment to regain her senses, "We meet in person!"
Then her attention was back on Yama and she clasped her hands behind her back, leaning close to him.
"Who are you, cupcake ~" she asked him with a fanged grin.

A brief snooze later and he was called out to the Training Ground despite the fact that he had THOUGHT he had registered as "Conscientious Objector"
"War was return of earth to ugly earth, war was foundering of sublimities," he muttered to himself as he edged his way over to a man in black. The letters floating over him read "Achmed".
"Are we allowed bathroom breaks?" Beyond asked with a note of despair. He did not seem to immediately notice L was present. But where L was, he would be, as if by law of gravitational force.

Speeking of which.. and now this was interesting. He would have thought that Yama would have chosen a more intellectual path. Not that defensive was brock and no brains. Combat, particularely defence, took a good amount of strategy. Nonetheless he was more than pleased. Interested in what would transpire as time progressed. The redhaired demon said nothing. Merely watching Elda, and tipping his head towards the boy, and furthermore towards a new pressence in which came forth looking ( ... )

Yamaraja.
He looked at each of them for a moment then looked away. Whenever he saw L he felt a stab of agony through his very soul. He was part of a discarded and forgotten past.
Beyond wiggled each finger and said audibly. "The Past is dead, and has no resurrection; but the Future is endowed with such a life, that it lives to us even in anticipation. The Past is, in many things, the foe of mankind; the Future is, in all things, our friend."
He was The Past. He was The Past.
"In the Past is no hope; The Future is both hope and fruition. The Past is the text-book of tyrants; the Future is the Bible of the Free."
He looked directly at Shukaku and Yamaraja.
"Worry not, worry not, I am not here to train. I fully intend to be killed in the next attack."

Elda was busy trying to wrestle down her hunger with the new boy who had arrived.
Dangit! Did all the people that insanely in love with someone gravitate towards her or this guy or - ARGH! This wasn't fair! She should have gone out to eat last night!
"Sugar, what are you talk - "
And then ANOTHER loving guy showed up and she was ready to bang her head against the wall or jump whichever one attempted to piss her off more.
"Hi, Kitten," she said weakly, gripping her arms around her stomach as it began to growl.
DANGIT!!!

Mildly alarmed by the attentions of this vampire, Yama's eyes widened as he regarded her warily. He'd heard about this one and suspected he knew why she would find him so very interesting. The love in his heart was so powerful that sometimes he himself was overwhelmed by it.
"Please call me Yama," he replied to Elda softly. The sand in the glass vial around his neck stirred, perhaps in response to his uneasiness.
The sound of Beyond's voice pulled him away from the minor concern that he might be a vampire's next meal. Yama turned to look at the boy who was his copy in life. The words Beyond spoke stung him. He could not bear the thought of losing any of his children. "You will not be killed," Yama murmured, "because I will not allow it."

He ran a hand down Yama's side and, when he finally broke for air he said softly. "I will die protecting you, L."
Then Achmed spoke and he glanced back. He could not help but feel he could grow to like this guy.

It didn't help the new loving arrival had decided to kiss the wannabe prettyboy. That just made her internal radar go nuts and her stomach growl again.
Hopefully they'd get to fight soon. She knew she wasn't anywhere near hungry enough to go berserk, but a good scrap was always good when she didn't want to feed.
"Sugar ~, Cupcake ~," she began in a sing-song voice, "Cut it out!"
