It seemed his thought had been right, and the Arena had escaped most major damage. Jing stood against the wall, watching as the injured were brought in and settled with what comfort they could be given. A few wise ones straggled in with blankets, and he made a mental note to get some people to salvage more from the empty barracks soon.

He wasn't good at this, at directing people. It had never been a skill he'd developed, he'd never needed it. It wasn't that he didn't care about people, he just... tried to help in much smaller ways.

But it did give him something to focus on, and he needed that right now.

Jing glanced around again, wishing he could do more to help.

Jing offered her a smile, showing he appreciated her offer. "If the Mess Hall's really that destroyed, we're going to need to find a way to feed everyone until the Warden fixes the Indigeo. I know Kimi-chan had a similar idea... maybe you can find her, and the two of you can be in charge of rations."

That was a funny thought, having everyone on rations. Not like funny-haha, but funny-jeez.

Makoto had been walking around the Arena, having heard that everyone was bringing as much as they could to this safe place.
"I.. couldn't help but overhear. I love to cook," she interrupted. She was holding a bag full of tupperware dishes filled with leftovers. "I hear I'm pretty good, so.. I brought all the leftovers I had. I cook for fun.. but it seems now I should cook for necessity. I am willing to help start something like a soup kitchen on the far end if we can get the materials," she offered.

Jing nodded to her. "Will what you've got there keep for a while? If not, it's best to use it up first, before it goes bad. Some of the food salvaged from the Kitchen is like that. I think, there's going to be a lot of people eating half-frozen ice cream in the next few hours."

"Okay," Makoto replied, dividing up her containers into Will Keep and Will Not Keep. "Is there no places to keep our food? We might have to start a campfire or something to cook some of this stuff.."
She pondered for a minute.
"There must be some people capable of making ice..."

"I don't know," Jing admitted. "You'd have to ask someone who's been to the kitchen themselves. I've only been here, and in Ast. As for some people making ice, that's a great idea."

Otogi got there in time to hear that, and mentally groaned. He wasn't sure if it was because of the concept of the Mess Hall being gone, or what he knew he'd have to do. Secrets be damned...this concerned lives.

So he walked over and said quietly, "I can provide food. I just don't know how much or for how long. But I'll do it as long as I can."

Jing glanced over at Otogi. "You can provide food?" he mused, wondering why the strange choice of words -- as though the other was just going to pull it from midair. "We may need it, but I think it's better to take stock of what we have first. But I'll definitely keep it in mind."
