So here's about the Pokémon.
What I've done so far:
- Got my Piplup and a Pokédex from Prof. Rowan.
- Saw some pretty blatant forshadowing about "rare Pokémon" at Lake Verity.
- Went on a shopping spree.
- Caught a bunch of random starting area Pokémon including a Kricketot which I immediately named after a Wizard of Oz character and a Starly, Bidoof and Shinx who I don't know well enough yet to nickname.
- Ran between the Pokémon Center and the Route 202 tall grass more time than I'd care to count.
- Defeated three rather understocked trainers who were hanging out in said route.
- Obtained a Pokétch after answering three easy questions from trivia clowns.
Thoughts:
- Of the new generation Pokémon, the ones on the early routes don't seem to be too bad.
- I named my rival Lionel because he is obviously a Lionel. (I mean, Barry? Tyson?? Come on, guys.)
- I'd forgotten the kind of emotional attachment you get to your team, even at this early stage in the game. It's probably what makes the grinding actually fun rather than boring. Or at least plays a part in that.
- Of course, this also means that it's that much more frustrating to have the weak one on new team nearly faint almost every encounter.
- I really hope that Pokétch guy will come back later, like the Camera Guy or something. Airdrop in via Salamence. I dunno.
- NO$GBA is still awesome and I really hope Martin Korth has just gotten a girlfriend or something, rather than having been arrested or killed by lung cancer.
