He'll never win, and honestly shouldn't. It's a superhero film. If he gets nominated it will be the pity vote for his death.

While I sort of see your argument, and I admit I've only had one class in film and don't know a lot about it. However, this isn't the average comic book film and Ledger's performance isn't your average comic book movie performance. In fact, I don't know that I've ever seen a comic book film with a performance anywhere near this. I have always enjoyed Ledger from 10 Things to Brokeback and have always thought he was very talented. I really had no idea that he was *this* talented and it was above and beyond my expectations from the praise I had read from critics.

I agree. It will all be moot because in late November/December there will be half a dozen movies about a crashed WWII pilot finding love while he recovers in North Africa. In one version he will be gay. In another version he will knock up a teenage girl and they will banter in the least realistic slang ever devised.

How are these Academy Awards jokes working for ya?

Do you agree that he won't get an Oscar or that he shouldn't get an Oscar?

I haven't seen it yet, so I can't say whether he deserves one for the role. I will, however, go on record as saying that no matter how good he is it would not even be a question if he were not dead.
