I've been talking with the Brumby about this show alot, why it's so appealing to the internet. We've decided:

a) The characters are REALLY well done, with feelings and quirks of their own. (Fluttershy's the most interesting case, being a gentle, shy, quiet little creature by nature...but Beware the Nice Ones!)

b) The show has a dry, self-referential sense of humor about it that borders on being a kiddie version of Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Princess Celestia, in a more adult-oriented universe, would make a great Havelock Vetinari. ^.^

c) The songs, while all modified versions of existing tunes, were really well done. The Art of The Dress is a standout, and ANYONE that knows an artist (like you, maybe?) should appreciate the creative process Rarity puts into her work.

The show's been so inspiring to me, I'm busy writing a fanfic on it for the first time in 20 years, concerning Rainbow Dash and her day with the Wonderbolts; aerial demo teams are a favorite subject of mine. :-)

(P.S. the favor I wanted to ask you some time ago? It was you trying to convince Mags to draw MY brony, but she turned me down flat. If you got any other suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them).

*chuckles* Wow, I never really thought too deeply about MLP before. I just figured it was a fun, happy romp. ^^

It's great that you're inspired, though!

Annnd, I'll have to catch you later on chat about that. :>
