Ok so update. I decided to go through with my photography studio idea, as a lot of you knew. Which means my own business! Which was originally Chris and I, but now its just me (lets just say i'm an ass). I decided to go through with it after being on the fence and deciding that the little extra income would be good doing what I like to do. Am I good enough to charge money? I don't know. What do you think?
Part of deciding to go through with it was a convo at my internship. Jim Hawks (the former CEO) was in the elevator with a coworker, he asked what he should do to be in his position some day. Jim Hawks said "half of business, is just showing up" so we were trying to figure out what the other half was. So finally I said "balls..." which got a strange look from him lol. I said "the other half of business is balls. The balls to commit to an idea, or plan of action even if its tough" so I was like "Entrepreneurs have to have balls to start their company, or managers to make decisions that will effect the company"
So here I am with a new (kinda still figuring things out, think I'll go with a single entity LLC) And with a lot of help I got it boiled down to like 3 or 4 names and need you to decide.
1.) Young Images
2.) Steve Young Photography
3.) Lajeunesse Photography (or images I guess)
4.) STY Photos
Oh! I almost forgot! I posted 2 ads, One on the noteboard thing at school and one on craigs list. I got two responses. One lady wants headshots for business cards and that type of thing, and the other wants to make a calendar for her boyfriend.
My prices (except for friends of course):
$30 sitting fee - 1 hour, unlimited clothes changes
$40 sitting fee - 2 hours, unlimited clothes changes
$50 sitting fee - 3 hours, unlimited clothes changes
too expensive? Not sure. That includes sitting for the pics, touch ups and a cd of images (with watermarks over the faces. Cant have theft!). Clients will have to sign a model release saying the images are mine for things like advertising and stuff and they cant steal them and not showing up is a 25 dollar fee and that type of thing. Prints are seperate too. I'm goin to use Mpix to do my printing. They have just about every size needed as you can see. Dont have any packages, I figure I'll let people get what they want.
