Battle Royale
I finished watching it today and discovered something else funny in addition to the fact that the lead guy is played by Tatsuya Fujiwara, who was Light in the live action Death Note movies. The guy who plays Kiriyama (the really hot psycho killer) is also in the Battle Royale parody Tokyo 10+01 XDD man... Masanobu Ando is fucking brilliant.
Apparently there's an English translation of the Battle Royale book... I really want to find it and read it sometime.
