When/Where: Akutsu's room, September 6th
What: Akutsu has a nightmare. Fortunately or unfortunately, Dan happens to be there.
It wasn't like he was sneaking in, really. The door was open, after all, so he wasn't breaking in or something equally deplorable, and the only reason he had chosen to come so early was simply because, well, it meant everyone else was asleep. That in turn meant that not only was there nobody around to see him walking about in nothing but his pyjama pants, but Akutsu himself wouldn't be awake to halt his nefarious plans.
Oh, indeed. He'd get these cookies into Akutsu's room no matter what obstacles rose before him.
Very, very quietly, he opened the door, relieved to find Akutsu apparently deep asleep as he slipped inside, one hand holding a full box of cookies even as he drew the door closed behind himself.
Some might have relaxed while they were sleeping, but not Akutsu. Even in his sleep he was tensed, the lines of his face not smoothed away by his unconscious state. The blanket was twisted around his torso, one long leg kicked out, and his hands were both fisted above his head in his pillow.
Dan frowned a bit as he saw Akutsu. He didn't seem to be sleeping very peacefully... All the more determined not to wake him up, Dan tiptoed across the room. Quietly, quietly...
He was dreaming. Knew he was dreaming. But that didn't stop the dream from showing him things that he didn't want to see. In it, he was kicking and pounding away at a door. What was past it, he didn't altogether know; it was a strange parade of images that included his younger self, his mother, people from his past. In a way, he dreaded being able to get in...but he was desperate to do so all the same.
And then, there was a cold hand at his throat, a man's low laugh, and the feeling of sharp fangs cutting into his neck.
Akutsu woke swinging, his fist crashing into the side of the wall by his bed as he bolted upright, still feeling the phantom fangs in his neck. Panting harshly, his free hand clawed at his neck, trying to get rid of it.
Startled by Akutsu's sudden movement, Dan practically jumped, the box of cookies dropping down. However, the doubtlessly broken cookies were the farthest thing from his mind as he stared at the older boy.
"Akutsu...san?"
Still trapped in the remnants of his nightmare, Akutsu whimpered, blood starting to spill over his fingernails as he continued to dig at his neck. "Take them out take them out," he begged, bent over and shuddering uncontrollably.
...Blood. He smelled blood. Dan swallowed, doing his best to ignore the sudden surge of thirst inside himself. This wasn't the time to think about such things. Not when Akutsu was obviously trapped in some kind of a nightmare.
Hurrying to the other's bedside, he reached out to grasp on Akutsu's hand, intent on pulling it away from his neck. "Stop that, Akutsu-san!"
Don't think about the blood. Don't think about the blood.
Once his nails were pulled away, he snapped out of it, the phantom feeling gone. But he was still affected by it, panting hard as his gaze jumped up instantly to Dan. He was just so relieved that it wasn't hs 'master', that someone had woken him from it that he tugged the shorter vamire back to him, locking his arms around him and burying his face in Dan's neck as he shivered, coming down from the shock to his system.
Well. If anything was enough to make Dan forget momentarily about the smell of the blood, this certainly worked. Shocked as he was about Akutsu's actions, all he could do right now was reach his arms around Akutsu, holding the shivering vampire close.
"It's all right," he murmured. "It's all right... nobody's going to get you here desu..."
Don't think about the blood.
That was such a blatant lie that Akutsu laughed, a short, unpleasant bark of a laugh. If the bastard that did this to him wanted to get to him, he would. The thought made his laugh turn into an angry choking sound.
"I hate him. I want him to die," he managed to growl, taking as much comfort as he could allow himself from Dan's arms. He didn't want to think about why Dan was there or what he was just then. The kid said he cared about him...right now that was all that mattered.
"I know you do," Dan said quietly. That much had certainly been made clear. "But I don't want you to die desu..." His arms tightened about Akutsu. "Please don't die desu," he whispered.
He wanted to. That feeling was probably never going to go away...but he kept that to himself. He quietly held onto Dan for handful of long moments, just breathing and letting himself calm down. Had to focus on other things...Dan's skin was soft under his hands, and he smelled...good.
That, and the fact that the vampire was perched right on his lap with only two thin layers of cloth between them was all his body needed to refocus and react.
Perhaps thankfully, Dan was currently focused only on making Akutsu calm down. He was forcing himself not to care about anything else, whether it be the smell of blood or any other... reactions... of Akutsu's body. It rather helped he was seated just far enough in Akutsu's lap not to directly notice any evidence just yet.
"...The fuck are you doing running around in your underwear?" Was the first thing to come out of Akutsu's mouth once he was aware and back to his senses again.
Okay. That sounded like the usual Akutsu. Dan drew back a bit, a small smile on his face. The smell of blood still lingered, but his relief managed to overdrive that. "I just came over to bring you some cookies desu," he replied. "I hadn't gotten dressed yet. Besides, it's not underwear if I'm wearing pants." Pyjama pants, but still.
"Practically fuckin' naked," Akutsu grumbled, frowning at him. He looked down, taking in Dan's petite, slender body in nothing but the pants that hung a little low on his slim hips.
Fuck. He shouldn't have looked. Ripping his gaze away, he pulled his arms away from the vampire and moved him off his lap, stuffing his pillow there instead. "You the damn cookie fairy now?"
"Am not," Dan complained. "Besides, I didn't expect anyone to be awake!"
Pushed off Akutsu's lap, he instead slid off the bed and walked to where he'd dropped the box of cookies, bending over to pick it up. "Well, you didn't refuse to have them last time, so I thought..."
He opened the box. A lot of the cookies were broken in half or even more pieces, but that didn't mean they weren't edible. And with Akutsu's blood smelling so very tempting... he quickly stuck one half-cookie in his mouth, then turned to offer the box to Akutsu even as he chewed. The little hint of blood in the cookie helped. A bit, anyway.
Akutsu swiped the box with a quick hand, mechanically stuffing the cookie pieces into his mouth as he looked away. It definitely took the edge off his stirring lust, and he kept an arm clamped around the pillow protecting his lap.
"Damn cookie fairy," he grumbled around a mouthful of cookie. "Didn't even hear you come in. Like a fucking ninja..."
Dan didn't even notice the pillow for now, too concentrated on ignoring Akutsu's bleeding neck. He swiped a couple of broken cookies. Better eat Akutsu's cookies than Akutsu himself~
"Well, you were asleep," he pointed out. "And I was trying to be quiet so you wouldn't wake up."
"Oi!" Scowling at the cookie thievery, Akutsu yanked the box away from the other vampire, cramming another half a cookie into his mouth. "Gotta lock my damn door," he grumbled.
"Hey, it's your own fault!" Dan said, not even bothering to point out he was the one who'd made the cookies. "Either I eat these or I bite you. I'm not the one reeking of blood here," he huffed. "...And if you lock your door, I can't bring more cookies."
"You bite me you'll regret it," Akutsu's tone plummeted into the arctic regions. Just the thought of Dan tasting his blood both repulsed and interested him, and it all just ticked him off. He didn't look at the dark haired boy, but grabbed another cookie from the box and tossed it to him.
Dan snatched the cookie from the air, hardly even looking. Vampiric reflexes were useful sometimes. "Last time you smelled my blood, you bit," he pointed out. Though it had been more of a taste, to be altogether air.
"And I fucking regret it," Akutsu shot back, not looking at him but continuing in his quest to empty the box of cookies. He regretted it because now he couldn't forget the taste. Like with Hirakoba, he was better off not tasting them at all because now it was like a craving itching at him.
Dan didn't allow himself to feel hurt. That would have been just stupid. Of course Akutsu would regret it; he hated being a vampire, after all. "So don't bitch about my eating the cookies," he shot back. "I'm just doing you a favour desu."
The white haired teenager was quiet for a time, chewing his cookies and randomly tossing pieces over to Dan. Finally, he broke the silence.
"Treat you like shit. Why the hell do you keep hanging around, Shorty?"
"I like you." Wasn't that enough of a reason?
"Even though I treat you like shit? This is where I think ya got dropped on your head," the other frowned.
"Akutsu-san... you don't understand, do you?" Dan tilted his head to the side. "If I wanted someone nice, it wouldn't be a problem. Even I have enough admirers in the Day Class to just pick one if I so wished desu. If I wanted a vampire, that'd work, too. I'm an Aristocrat and the heir to my name. There'd be common vampires getting in a line if they thought they had a chance at climbing up. Probably a few lower Aristocrats, too desu." He gave Akutsu a smile. "You're not like that. You're not being nice to me because you're related to me or think it'll benefit you or even because you've been taught to be polite to anyone potentially influental. You're rude and direct and tell me what you think most of the time... but you could be worse. You could hurt me if you wanted, but you haven't desu. You keep telling me to go away but you still let me follow you around. Sometimes you may scare me or startle me, but... ultimately, I think you think worse of yourself than I do desu."
Akutsu fiddled with the last cookie, staring down into box as he listened and digested that. "Just what do you think you're gonna get if I said yes?" he challenged him. "Just said yourself you could do a helluva lot better. I'm not a nice, lovey dovey kind of guy. Just make you fucking miserable...." Until he got what he wanted...or died. To him, it was stupid to want him when there wasn't a future in it.
"'Sides. Keep telling you I don't want anyone."
Dan chuckled faintly. "What do I think I'd get? I'm hoping I'd get you, were I ever that lucky. You see... I didn't go around picking those Day Class girls or hopeful vampires desu. I just happened to fall for you desu... because you're strong and tall and interesting and sexy and I really don't think you hate me as much as you try to make me believe. Maybe I'm just waiting for you to change your mind desu. So if you're going to make someone miserable, might as well be me." He shrugged his bare shoulders. "Couldn't be all bad, anyway." Besides, it wasn't like he'd let Akutsu die on him.
By the time Dan was done talking, Akutsu's ears were a bright, bright red, his shoulders hunching up over them. "Not any of that," he muttered, shoving the last cookie into his mouth, completely embarrassed and irritated. He tossed the empty box over to Dan. "Still think you're batshit," he said once he'd swallowed.
"Most people would be flattered at someone finding them attractive," Dan pointed out. "...If I make more cookies, will you eat them?"
"The fuck should I be flattered when I'm not?" Akutsu turned his head away before Dan could see the red stealing over his face. "I'll eat 'em, fine. Don't sneak in here anymore. And go put some fucking clothes on."
"Never said you should be, just pointed out a fact desu." Taking the box, Dan shrugged. "What's wrong with this? It's not like I'm naked, and nobody's awake yet anyway."
"Might as well be," Akutsu frowned. "Just do it, dammit."
Dan tilted his head to the side. "Does it bother you?"
"What do you think?"
Dan blinked oh-so-innocently. "Didn't stop you from hugging me close~"
That got him a snarl. "You crusin' for a bruisin', short stack?"
Dan's innocent expression turned into a grin. "You'd have to catch me first~" After this, he quickly slipped out of the door, with one final, "Try not to choke the poor pillow, Akutsu-san~"
...Well. Apparently he had noticed something at some point.
Said pillow went sailing across the room to crash against the door just as Dan shut it.
