Remember, remember the 5th of November...

Remember, remember the 5th of November
The gunpowder treason and plot
I see no reason why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

{at least I'm pretty sure that's how it goes, lol}

Also known as "Bonfire Night" in Britain, I believe... [I could be wrong]

I came to know and remember this particular day mainly because of the film (and comic) 'V For Vendetta'; even though this day actually marks the day the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 was suppose to take place (in where King James I and most of the Protestant aristocracy was to be killed in the explosion(s) of the Houses of Parliament during the State Opening on November 5th).

It may be that, being American, I may not be able to fully appreciate the meaning or implications of this event in British history but I actually think that - if anything - this event shows where we Americans got our revolutionary spirit [or at least some of it]. ;)

Aaaaand, having an Aquarius ascendant, I do tend to have that rebellious nature/spirit constantly bubbling against the surface (and against the more practical Capricorn I am on the inside XP).

So, all religious motivations and such aside, I truly think The Gunpowder Plot of 1605 was possibly one of the "parents" of the Revolutionary War of 1775 and it again proves that everything in history has happened for a reason and that's one of the reasons I like to remember/celebrate it.

And so I leave you with this fav. trailer of mine:
