Just finished watching 'Akira' for the first time...
... and let me tell you, that movie was [summed up in a few words]:
Made up of incredible art/animation, a trippy-ass story line, and is an over-all crazy experience for any anime fan.
In other words: it was pretty damn good.
May need to watch it a few more times to truly appreciate it - the art is meticulous and nearly overwhelming in its details (reminding me greatly of 'Metropolis') - but it is a bit on the long side not to mention pretty gory in some places *bleh*, so it may be a while before I watch it again.
If you are a fan of anime and haven't seen it, SEE IT. Really, every anime fan is pretty much obligated to see it at least once. *not sure why/how that became a "rule" but it's pretty much an unspoken rule amongst otakus*
And even if you aren't a fan of anime, I still recommend watching it at least once (trust me, you won't forget it anytime soon, lol).
Also, did I mention how I absolutley LOVE the red bike in this movie? No? Well, ok, let me just say:
I LOVE THIS BIKE. I WANTS IT.*precious*
But, uh, yeah. Really good movie. Go see it. And awesome bad-ass bike motherfucker!!!TETSUO!! *lol, if you watch the movie, you'll get the reference*
