Viva Las Vegas

it's been a while since i've written. lately it's been work, sleep, repeat. but the three day weekend we just had was well spent in Las Vegas. no, we didn't gamble monetarily, just with our lives. you see, our dear friend Ken works as a singing waiter at Stratosphere, and after dinner Sunday night, he scored passes for us to ride the rides at the top.
there we were, enjoying the views from the 108th floor. we were inside, exploring a fantastic panoramic view of the city at sunset. after an hour of this, my courage was declining fast. but i felt i owed it to him to go upstairs and gamble with my mortality. i said if Shannon was up for it, so was i. suffice it to say, we survived it. "Insanity" was the scariest ride i've ever been on. i didn't think i was afraid of heights too much, but i've never riden anything so high up before. i conquered the fear, and was comforted to hear Shannon admit she thought she was gonna vomit when we took off. it made me relax in that i wasn't the only one terrified. plus, Ken and Stefanie rode it first as we traded off watching the kids while one couple went on each of the three rides.
we completed all three, and once was quite enough thanks. the weirdest was XScream, and the final ride, Big Shot was the highest of them all. i thought i was going to have a heart attack going straight up into the darkness. the photo that they captured exhibits my fright, but the only one we purchased was for "Insanity."
i'll write more about the Vegas trip later, with a few pictures.
