• Beck - Nobody's Fault But My Own
this is so full of sentiment, and it just pulls on the heartstrings and doesn't let go
• Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass - This Guy's In Love With You
i can't get this song out of my head. i'm considering picking up the Burt Bacharach box set, which contains all the hits performed by the artists that made he and Hal David famous.
• Chicago - Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
i was really struck when i saw this song title written on Shannon's garage wall of handwritten quotes, and i've always liked this song. it wasn't until she and i took a midnight drive out to Highway 1 and listened to a Chicago cd that it meant more than just a good song. then she told me the other day that it was she who wrote the title on her wall, and that was it.
• Stereolab - One Note Samba
with jazz legend Herbie Mann on flute, this song is a moogie orgasm waiting to happen. every time i hear it.
• Oasis - Live Forever
it's a perfect pop song. i can't put it any plainer than that.
• U2 - City Of Blinding Lights
since they are the only band i've seen this year aside from The Psychedelic Furs, and may see again in November with Shannon (if our tickets ever arrive), this song keeps popping into my head. i don't really dig the opening chorus as much as the rest of the song.
