Yesterday night was Regression Night for my fraternity (Sigma Chi Delta..whoo!), a night of general five-year-old revelry that included phallic balloons with faces on them, Ooblick, Play-doh, Nesquick, Teddy Grahams, and face painting. I was enjoying the preschool festivities painted like an elemental sprite until I suddenly found myself involved in a conversation with a huge, heavyset guy who seemed to be somewhat okay, seeing as how we both read Something Awful and watch Zero Punctuation. Feeling sorry for him and being a generally "Oblivious Until Contact Happens" kind of person, I decided to continue our dialogue to gauge his potential as a pledge.
However, the situation quickly turned sour when he suddenly admitted three things:
1. He writes for the Cornell Review (SUPER stupid and creepy right-wing campus newspaper created by Ann Coulter. Yeah, it's that bad.) and created an article about how Tibet deserved to be in its current state of oppression.
2. He admitted to being a hard-core Nihilist, and wanted to create a Nihilist- themed video game whose objective was to kill God in the hopes that the game would convert its players to Nihilism as well.
3. Right before I managed to run away, he said to me: "This isn't directed at you or anything, but I'm really into Asian girls."
Jesus, it sucks to be an ethnic minority sometimes.
Throughout the entire conversation, I kept inching away very slowly until I found myself against the far side of the two-seater we were both on. Needless to say, after the last comment I made a hurried excuse to use the bathroom and hid in my room until he left. He couldn't even take a hint, especially when I kept saying: "Oh, so my boyfriend blah blah blah..." and "I've been in a long-term-committed relationship with my boyfriend *ahem ahem* for blahblahblah." I guess he was just...a bit overenthusiastic. I don't know. Either way, we all pretty much came to the same conclusion that he won't be receiving a bid anytime soon . Because that's just creepy.
Grr. I hate Yellow Fever.
