meow! a message about DeeDee
This is my dear, sweety, crazy little kitten DeeDee.
this is her with her sister Macy who has gone to the Rainbow Bridge (cat heaven)
She started exhibiting signs of rippling skin disorder, or feline hyperesthesia syndrome, today. She is twitching her back muscles and then frantically grooming random areas of her body, particularly her back, tail, and feet. She was also staring off into space at one point, having what looked like a petit mal seizure. It isn't fatal or terminal, but obviously very agitating and stressful for her. My poor cats, they have aweful genes. She will require medication to keep her comfortable, most likely an anticonvulsant and if that doesn't work, an anti-obsessional medication. Treatment is inexpensive but it does take knowledge of the condition and compassion to tolerate the sometimes odd behavior. If anyone knows anyone with a big enough heart to care for an otherwise perfectly healthy, happy, and loving animal, please let me know! I can't keep her, I already have two other cats and a chihuahua, and I'm not supposed to have more than two animals in my apartment, but I absolutely REFUSE to surrender her to a shelter, even a no-kill shelter. There are already too many animals there as it is. She did not ask to be brought into this world. It is my responsibility to find her a loving forever home.
