cendrillo requested more from the 201created universe, so I am posting some of the pieces I wrote there.

I told them not to die.
I told them everything except the last truth - the learning robot, the whole nine yards. I gave them details, schematics, and I answered every question they asked. Most of them asked more than Mr. Incredible. Many of them spent hours studying the diagrams. I told them everything they wanted to know, everything but this:
"This is a test. It's not one you're expected to pass. If you fail, you die. If you pass, you earn the right to come back in a few months and take a harder one. No one has passed this test more than twice."
Supers had outlived their usefulness, according to the government. Old supers don't die, they just fade away...
Not one of them that I approached turned me down. They all hated their lives, missed who they used to be, and longed to be something more, even if it was just for a few brilliant moments. More than one offered to do it for free. They died fighting, doing what they loved.
Knowing that, how much can I regret?
