(no subject)

Winters in Germany could be brutal.  Siegfried didn't mind.  He closed himself in his office with a hearty fire and weathered the weather with grace. Modern heating and insulation could only do so much for a stone castle, however.  And yearly Siegfried could see the weather taking more and more of a toll on his mother.  She was always complaining about feeling the chill in her bones.

Siegfried had been a bit nervous about broaching the subject of her wintering someplace warmer, but he'd had a notion.  He could bundle her off to California and she could perhaps be his eyes and ears on doings around Industrial Illusions.  She didn't quite have the head for business he had - that came entirely from his father.  But it still wouldn't hurt to have someone he trusted at least in the same city as Pegasus Crawford.  Ilsa proved agreeable - at least to a winter home in California.  Even though it wasn't winter yet, she packed a bag and took a flight so that she could start looking at houses.

Ilsa wasn't a fool.  Siegfried didn't have to say anything about Industrial Illusions, but he's pointed her specifically to San Francisco.  She didn't dive into house-hunting straight away.  Instead, she decided to play the tourist.  When she left the hotel that would be her home until she found a nice winter home, instead of going to a realtor first off, Ilsa made her way to the Industrial Illusions building to sign up for a tour.  This card game, she didn't play herself and didn't know much about it.  She figured that perhaps she ought to learn what she could so that she could maybe be of some use to her son.
