Xanxus watched the snapping fire, logs threatening to tumble out of the fireplace. He closed his eyes and her fingers touched his disgusting, red skin, lines on a fine map. It wasn't pity, but something deeper, richer, like the ancient wine he swirled.
"This isn't right," she cracked.
"I hate it."
He wanted to pull her down, kiss her hard and long, push his own pain into her. But who would kiss a pit-bull with ears cut and tail torn and filled with aggression? His fire, now reduced to slow, tired embers dusted gray, never fell out of the fireplace.
A/N: Me and my mom adopted a pit bull for 2 days. I fell in love with her, but my mom brought her back to the shelter because she thought the dog was showing too many signs of aggression. I didn't think she was aggressive at all, just getting used to the environment. I run, and I've had dogs chase me barking, snarling, and I thought she was an angel in comparison. But the neighbors were also giving us funny looks, and I think my mom might have been influenced by that too. Now, all I want to do is get my own of the breed, a lovely, healthy happy pit-bull. Hopefully, I will be able to find an apartment that allows them when I want to adopt.
DAMMIT! I want a dog!
