We've all tried for the past few years to make some of them care, but they just don't. Mr. McKinney's been trying for many many years. There's been some really awesome stuff that's happened since we've been there, but the past two years or so have been a downward spiral. My parents started noticing a lot of trouble arising in the fact that a lot of people's parents doing nothing in band boosters (aside from your mother, they knew she couldn't help). There's such a small number of parents that care, so there's not many kids that care. I was so worried about everything last year when we graduated. I had faith that the seniors could keep it together this year, but next year is extremely questionable. I'll be really surprised if the band is still good. There will be individuals that will be good, but it will be so difficult for the band as a whole to be good. It makes me really sad because I love that band. It's my band. It's where I started playing clarinet, which has become my whole life and my future. I wish someone could stress to the board of education and the parents and kids that music is really important, but I just don't see how anyone can do anything more. It's completely ridiculous
I'm really glad you guys had a great year. It had to have taken a lot of effort to deal with some of the problems of a band that small, but you guys did it. I didn't mean to write you a novel. I'm sorry.
