The Most Fucked Up Thing Ever
Last night might have been the most traumatizing night of my life...
Cole, Noah, and I were walking out of Wild and Woolly video. I had parked on the same side as W and W so we didn't have far to go. There was a guy walking out right behind us and he had parked right across the street (and therefore right across from us) from W and W. So, I had my head down and was digging in my purse for my keys when I heard this loud "thunk" and this person screaming "oh my god." I lifted my head just in time to see what I thought was the bumper of a car hit the pavement like 10-20 feet up the street from us. I thought that someone had hit a parked car and then just sped off. Well, Noah takes off running up the street and Cole follows him. At this point I realize that what I thought was a bumper was actually a man...So I pulled out my cell phone and promptly dialed 911. I told them that we had just seen a hit and run and that there was a man unconscious in the street. Cole was trying to stop traffic around Noah and the guy (a few more people had gathered/stopped to help). After I got off of the phone I went over to see if there was anything I could do to help Noah. He was trying to get the guy's head to stop bleeding, so I took off my sweatshirt and gave it to him to see if it would help the cause at all. Then I ran up the road to get people to quit coming down the street. At this point the police, a fire truck, and shortly thereafter and ambulence show up. Cole and Noah were talking to the police and giving their accounts of what happened. I ran over to the Walgreen's to get some antiseptic for Noah and this other woman (who was a nurse) who had blood all over their hands.
They took the man to the hospital and he was alive when they took him. I hope he's ok.
It was so weird...I mean, now I know that I saw him land and skid...it could so easily have been me, or Cole, or Noah, or really anyone else. I mean, the guy was at his car fiddling with his keys to get in. Cole said he flew like 10-12 feet into the air and did like 2 head over heels turns in the air before landing on his head.
It really was the most fucked up thing I have ever seen....
Just please, please please, be careful out there! You never know when some asshole is going to come speeding down the road...
