Fetus- The taste of a new generation.

An issue I posted on NationStates a while ago:

Controversy over recent advancement in the art of manipulating human stem cells (harvested from aborted fetuses) has recently come to a boil. Being a touchy issue, the people of your nation are unable to reconcile their deep seated convictions on what use, if any, this technology should be put to. Your people have called upon your wisdom to settle this matter.

"Think of the possible benefits for public health," says x, top executive for Nerrex corporation, "some of us for example, have heavily damaged livers due to indiscretions taken as a respite from a harping, shrewish wife. With this marvelous new technology, these good fellows could impregnate said spouse, wait a fortnight, and have viable, genetically compatible material for any number of spare parts, or even an intriguing conversation piece on hors d'oeuvres."

Result- Civil liberties up, economy up, economic divide up, medical industry up(if there is such a variable)
Compassion down, religion down.

"Roar the underhand of shrimp", counters y, raving lunatic and part time duck, "golden says hamper, for bouffant my pulpit of perspex. Toy boat toy boat. Toy boat? Down in front."

Result- Random

"Children are a gift from the invisible people" protests Z, welfare recipient and mother of 30, "I pay my taxes, or spend yours, I'm not too good at the math; so I demand my say: Make stem cells illegal! Then give me money."

Result- Religion up, social support up, compassion up, taxes up,
medical industry down, collective intelligence down.

"Who lets these people breed?" shudders Q, avid turtleneck wearer and self described intellectual, between sips of some form of coffee involving a number of prefixes so great it requires scientific notation to order, "Ever read Malthus? This will ony get worse. You know, we could kill two birds with one stone if we forced them all to give their festuses to the state rather than bring them to term: by preventing the wretched from propagating themselves AND providing a huge boost to the biotech industry. The invisible people would probably thank us."

Result- Economic divide lessened, collective intelligence up,
civil liberties down, population down, compassion down, religion down.
