I finally got a Meerschaum pipe from the old man at the Extreme Pita. He whipped out a huge box of fantastically carved pipes, and I picked out the one with the most pissed off looking Turk on it. It cost me 25 dollars and I've been showing it off to absolutely everybody, though maybe I should keep this awesome deal on the down-low in case I want more later.
Watched APC perform last night, and had a great time. There was this really energetic dancing guy on the floor who's dance looked kind of like he was shadowboxing in a straitjacket. Mostly I watched him. When I looked at the stage my eyes were mainly on either the Jesus-trees they had for decoration (that's how I saw them, anyway- like fiber optic crucifix willows) or Billy Howerdel's truly excellent guitar posture. He crouches back in the same way that keeps me from falling over on the bus sometimes, resting his guitar in his lap, and he doesn't rock out so much as prowl around on the stage, like he's ranking the crowd by how well they would taste on the grill (if he wasn't busy at the moment) in his head.
I just now got back from the theatre where I watched Volume II of Kill Bill. I like how kung-fu played a pretty small role in this one because the choreography sucked anyway, and instead there were just a lot of sympathetic characters, like the old Brazilian pimp-lord and the slovenly hillbilly swordsman, both of whom I liked and disliked simultaneously. David Carradine did a way better job as Bill than I thought he'd do, as well. The old chinese guy stole the show, lending an air of authenticity with his perfect stylized acting that I was really craving.
Oh, I just remembered that I came up with a perfect solution to North America's current power crunch while watching the pre-movie trailers: just hook up a power generator to Isaac Asimov's grave while I, Robot is in theatres.
